Kite Flying Checklist
From Illinois Kite Enthusiasts
So, you're going to spend the day flying...either at a festival, or a club fly, or just on your own. We've put together a list of items that might be worthwhile to have. No excuse for forgetting now!
Equipment
- Kites
Well, that was a no-brainer, eh? So are some of the following items...
- Line sets
- Ground Stakes
- Handles, for quad fliers
- Extra spars
- Tool, such as pliers, scissors, pocket knife, multi-tool...something for on-the-field repairs and adjustments
- Music player, mp3, boombox, etc.
- Batteries
Health and Comfort
- Sunscreen. Very important, don't underestimate the sun!
- Water. Also very important to stay hydrated.
- Food. Snack bars, sandwich, something...it could be a long day.
- Sunglasses
- Hat that provides shade
- Lip Balm - wind and sun dries you out!
- Comfortable shoes and socks
- A sweatshirt or jacket for if it gets cool
- Earplugs. Some festivals play music pretty loud...if you're in the line of fire, you might need some!
- Cellphone
- Portable chair. It's nice to take a break.
Of course, if it's cold, the list changes just a bit...
- Gloves
- Hat that covers ears
- Scarf
- Dress in layers
- Boots might even be necessary if it's wet or <shudder> snowy.
