Another one pooped, er, I mean popped into my head.

We've got Quadratic Equation...Quadratic Elation... how about, Quadratic Invasion!

Oooh, we could have such a cool logo.

I'm on a roll here. :-)

I saw String Art, but it made me think of an even geekier variation.

String Theory.

Here's another goofy one that I like...

I like String Theory because it does not imply how many strings - single, dual, or quad.

Which would work very well, considering that the was talk of use some dual lines in a routine, or as they did out G.H. with iQuad and Al's octopus.

So I guess I am saying it works for me too. :mrblue:

We will be primarily a quad team.
I know we haven't decided on this as a name. I'm still getting used to it myself. But anyway, here's a couple quick ideas for a logo with a kinda similar look to the IKE logo. At least the same colors (which can save money on printing)

I played around with string art kind of things, but they all looked to 70's.

This would look good on the pocket of a polo shirt. Better than an alligator.

Looks cool. I like the design of first two better.
What font are you using there?

I had a couple ideas myself for logos for a couple of the names. Maybe I'll get a chance to work up some samples. What I have in mind is probably a bit too complex for shirts and patches, but might work in print.

let's see what you've got Jeff.
This was just a jumping off point. The font is called Myriad , but it's not a final choice either.

OK, I'll start with this. I chose 2 of the name candidates, but there are others I like as well. There are probably 5 names right now that are my favorites. But here's some samples that start with the same premise you had.

This last one is based on the original idea that I had. I always liked the way that the kite strings look when they are crossing over each other. Like in this picture that Backdraft took...

Using the general geometry of the lines, I came up with:

You obviously can't put in as many strings as there would be, it has to be a little more abstract. And I think the black rectangle would need to be not so tall for a better proportion, but that's the general idea.

I like String Theory over anything with quadratic in it...

I love the last logo Jeff...

I like the overall look of the last logo too, but it doesn't say "kites" to me. I realize that a Rev only says "kites" to kiters and not the general public, but I think that's ok. They public will learn when they see String Theory in the Olympic opening ceremonies.
It also doesn't look quite right to me. I didn't initially understand that it represented 4 kites, it looked line the 4 lines of one kite.
Jeez, it sounds like I don't like what you've done. I do. I see potential. Keep playing with your ideas.

I like the Quadratic Invasion with the revs invading, but I don't care for the name Quadratic Invasion. I've given up on Quadratic Equation.

Things to consider for the logo:
The team will hopefully have 6 fliers, but will probably vary from 4 to 6 fliers, maybe even 8 fliers some day.

With the original logo, I was also thinking of the possibility of having the single Rev in different colors. Each member could have the kite in the color of their team kite (when we get team kites). When people see the logo on your shirt, they'll know which kite you're flying.

I think we need a simple, easy to reproduce logo. With the club logo I also tried to keep in mind that people might want to appliqué it onto a banner or kite. We should probably make sure it looks OK in grayscale too.

Having strings in the logo make sense, but I've had trouble incorporating them into a design on a kite. They are hard to applique in a size that shows up when viewed from a distance, but doesn't' look like a rope. Could just be my minimal artistic skills

From Wikipedia:

String theory is a model of fundamental physics whose building blocks are one-dimensional extended objects called strings, rather than the zero-dimensional point particles that form the basis for the standard model of particle physics. The phrase is often used as shorthand for Superstring theory, as well as related theories such as M-theory. By replacing the point-like particles with strings, an apparently consistent quantum theory of gravity emerges. Moreover, it may be possible to "unify" the known natural forces (gravitational, electromagnetic, weak nuclear and strong nuclear) by describing them with the same set of equations, as described in the Theory of everything.

So basically, this makes as much sense to me as we must must make sense to non-kiters when trying to describe our flying... hence, it fits us wonderfully...

Or, we could make it Stwing Theory, using a Rev for the W and call ourselves Elmer Fudd 1, 2, 3...etc... or Shwing Theory and grow our hair out, drive a pacer around and listen to Bohemian Rhapsody...

But seriously... drop the black background and we can do more with things like you mentioned... a black background will severely limit things.... simple is great but I would like to see a Rev in the logo or something to associate it with kiting.. I'll play around this weekend too..

Yes, I knew that would be a problem.

I've got a few more a was playing with.

I kind of went for an infinite loop there.
