West Coast Club Fly

Postby Jim Foster » Fri, Feb 16 2007, 09:50 PM

I've been on this forum for a couple of weeks and wondered if IKE would ever have a fly on the west coast. Well, It happened today.
Four of us (Hector Herrera, Mike Kory, my wife Lynn and I) got together at Belmont Shores, CA, near Long beach for an afternoon of fun flying in the sun. We had a good breeze most of the day. Hector brought his new "IKE The Red Baron" quad which we all flew. Several times we looked up and thought we were under attact! Getting buzzed, machine gun fire, in over the trees, coming out of the sun, attacking other kites in the sky, what a blast! More fun than anyone should have without buying a ticket.
Here are a few photos.

I could just puke looking at you guys in that spectacular setting and warm weather....

Wish I were there!

There's still time. Come on out west. The party isn't for a week.

Mike asked me to post some pictures, but can only post three at a time, so here are three more from today.

From California...
"THE THREE AMIGOS" and Ike members. Plus One great woman.
As I stated earlier in the wrong area, I had the great pleasure of seeing Mike Kory, from Illinois, and Jim foster, along with his wife Lynn.
My official IQuad training...is on it's way. At the beggining I didn't do that good, cause I never done it before, and after some listening and watching, Jim, Lynn and mike I've got the hang of it.
But I need more schooling.
Here are a couple of Pictures for you to enjoy.

Beautiful Airstream Jim!  Can you post a few more pics, inside also? What was the original condition? Maybe next year, I can make it out there, God knows all of us back here could use some fun in the sun!!!
It's a great satisfaction knowing that for a brief point in time you made a difference.

Chris

The trailer was in very good shape when we got it in 2000. It was not polished, I did that in 2001. During the process of towing it 100,000 miles, we have completely re-done the interior. Lynn sewed every stitch inside. Our latest addition is a flat panel HDTV and DVD/VCR player/recorder. We plan to keep "Lucky" for a long, long time. Most of the 100,000 miles we towed with our orange '47 Chevy Street Rod coupe which I built in my garage in 1992.

That was a funny video Hector, I didn't know you were filming all our silliness.
At least we can all see how well your kites fly.

Great Video!! The first of Lynn and I flying together ever taken.
Were we all having a good time, or what? It's no wonder Mark, Jeanette, Ron and Susan call their team "Too Much Fun". Flying together really is just that.

Looks like fun!

We pulled up to Color the Wind in Iowa, today and unloaded to "California Dreaming, on such a winters day...." playing on the festival PA. Thought of you all-fondly of course!-as we dove into snowpants, hats, scarves, mittens and boots in the 20+ wintery winds.

Will get pics up later.

Jim and Lynn!!! That gives me an idea
Let's make a date where I can video tape you both with your patriotic kites, along with an interview of yourselves and so on. 8) What do you think? 8)
Then we can post it... :LogoRevAni:

That would be fine with me. I'll have to run that one by Lynn. Sometimes she is a little camera shy. Let's make it short. Perhaps at Kite Party. That might make a nice backdrop.

It's not so easy to loose attention to the kite, since it's so weird to see it from the other side.
I enjoyed very much this kind of kite flying, I think I will pursue this technic seriously.

Boy this Kite Party is fun.
When I got to the beach this morning, 5 members of iQuad were the only ones on the beach, so I became the 6th.
It was real good fun, John is great at calling the moves. John asked if I would move to the northwest because they needed an 8th member, but I told him I was needed here in Illinois :-D

It was eye-opening flying with this many good fliers and hearing John call it out. It's a lot harder than you'd think to call. Two others tried but John has got it figured out.

Later in the day, Jim, Lynn, Kent and Ben joined in the fun too.
