It's been too quiet around here...

Sound's like "where's Waldo" :rotfl He's going to have some catching up to do when he gets back to the forum!
It's a great satisfaction knowing that for a brief point in time you made a difference.

I'm back!
Rose had a week before she had to go back to school, and I finished off my frequent flier miles so we could take a spur of the moment trip.
We were delayed getting back for a couple days because of the weather and then I ran Rose back to Grinnell yesterday.

Boy, I've got a lot of reading to do here to catch up.

I think some of you know where I was, but here's a clue. Who can guess the location?

Good to have you back!

I know where you went because I called Fern and asked her where you were... :rotfl

We missed you buddy...

Glad you made it back safe and sound and hope the trip was fun...

thanks guys, and only two hours later, I'm caught up on my reading!

Where I was last week, they had 90-100 mph winds depending on which newspaper you read.
I tell you, it was a lot of fun sitting on a train on a narrow bridge, high over a river, rocking back and forth, waiting for the wind to die down a bit before we could continue on. I guess they didn't want to add the train's speed to the wind.

Too bad I didn't bring my vented kite. :-D

Then I guess we weren't busy enough for you, eh?

Even folks who know where I was (is this everyone?--Fern wasn't supposed to tell)
You get bonus points if you tell me what the building is behind me.

Since y'all don't seem to have a guess, I'll help ya out.
The first photo is in Paris. It's Notre Dame, where hunchbacks like to hang out.

The second photo is this place, the Eiffel Tower:
[albumimg]457[/albumimg]

If kids still watch Mary Poppins, the building in the last photo is the steps of St. Paul. That's where she feeds the birds.

And finally, Al Sparling must know Gerard Clement, he does the big french kite festival and flies and makes big kites
Here's his store in Paris. I had a nice chat with him.

OK, one more. Here's my traveling buddy at breakfast.

Ah, I was going to guess it was the Chartes Cathedral. <snap> Shoulda known that wasn't the Rose Window.

Impressive trip!

Glad you're back.

Thanks Nathan, it was a lot of fun.
I think it was more fun because it wasn't planned. We decided to go and left within the week.

Oh, Drafnik: I asked in the French kite store but he didn't have any of Kisa's kites. And the kite store in London no longer exists, it seems they went out of business last year.
