U-MAKE 2015

Postby goestoeleven » Sun, Jan 11 2015, 05:26 PM

OK, IKE people. It seems like every winter we talk about building something, and we never actually get around to getting together. So . . . because I'll never get anything built unless I put a hard deadline in place, I signed up for U-MAKE. Scaring me, it is, because I haven't built a kite in 35 years (and what I built then was crap). But if I don't sign up for something, I'll never get anything built. Might as well jump into the deep end of the pool . . . .

Here's a link to U-Make

It's Feb 27th (evening) to March 1st (afternoon).

Maybe I'll see some of you there . . . .

I want to do the banner or pointer class, but I'll be busy right until the retreat. I have to decide rather quickly if I can make it.

See you there! I'm in the pointer and Della Porta classes. I'll be getting there tonight for sewing machine learning time . . . . and I skipped a Sunday afternoon class to allow extra time to get sewing done.

Not sure if tmadz is going to make it . . . .

No dice. Sorry. Still too busy with other things to be able to go. It's a shame. I really wanted to do the banner class and meet STapp. I hear he's going. I'd love to see if he had more photos of his recent dual line projects. The guy is an artist.

You and Dennis have fun. Wave when you drive by.

To all -

U-Make was AWESOME!!!!

It was a great weekend with a great group of people. I finished both projects (haven't flown them yet though). It took me a really long time, but both my pointer and my della porta are complete. I ended up finishing the della porta tail at home (kite was finished Sunday afternoon). These are the first kites I've made in 33 years, and I'm really happy they're done. Dennis was there as well, and he finished his pointer as well. Right now, if I can make it back next year, I'm going. Great event, great people, and great fun.

Oh yeah . . . and I uh . . . won a couple dual line kites in the raffle. Didn't win the Rev in the raffle. Oops.

PS . . . there's at least one picture of the pointers over on Steve Nichol's FB page.

Waz an awsome weekend!! Finished the pointer with Steve into the wee hours of the morning. Sign up for next year, maybe a banner with Linda Sanders! ( thats commitment) if you have never been to U Make, highly recommend it!
