When the winter snow and ice gets a little too deep, you might check out this thread on kitebuilder and leave it all behind!!!

Cheers,
Tom

Ahhh, but they are planning for June. That's when the weather is good here and very hot south of the border. Why wasn't it planned for January or February?
Let me say right off that my memory is not all that trustworthy, but given that caveat:
I've been to Cabo, and the beaches aren't all that wide for sport kite fliers. But it looks like the hotel is at the end of the beach where it's wider and may have fewer sunbathers, so that's good.

Watty was in Cabo last year and did lots of flying at that beach.

Don't have Watty's e-mail address. Tried to PM him through the Rev forum, but that site seems to be having problems at the moment. Will try later,

Watty was there in June of 2008.

We were there one April, and the temp was 80-85 during the day and 60s at night.

Just got this message from Watty

"Ah, well it's a very nice place to fly, the specific spot there is at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula. The wind was quite heavy though. I used a double leading edge every day. In June, the sun was very bright, but the wind came off of the Pacific and was cool."

Just got back from this trip. The posters called it "Cabo International Kite Festival", but it was more like a Mexican kite party. Eight couples and one mother/son combo who were associated with kitebuilder.com made the trip. What a blast. You could eat, drink and fly all without walking more than 50 feet. The beach was about twice as deep as Grand Haven and went on seemingly forever. Some of us knew one or two others, but for the most part this was the first time that the majority of the participants met each other. Still, everyone got along great.

The majority of the folks claimed show and SLKs as their flying choice. A couple of participants tried my Rev ... one said it was harder than he thought it would be ... hard to get the smile off my face after that comment! Flew a SLK for part of the day and then got out McKite ... he loves the beach. David Gomberg put up one of his new creations ... only the second one in the states. I couldn't resist helping to improve it's looks. The second day was spent flying in amongst the show kites and no one had a problem with that. If you thought our Rev lines are expensive, you should buy some show kite spectra line ... 40 cents per foot!!!!

Cheers,
Tom

Great photo. The Zebra is much improved with his dressy McBowTie!

David Gomberg had this to say ... "I thought the Zebra with a bow-tie looked very .... debon-air."
