A Little Kite Party 6 Video

Postby Kitehead » Tue, Mar 25 2008, 01:11 AM

Well, here are some "snapshots" of people flying on Saturday at KP6. The video quality is funky 'cause I don't know what I'm doing and the camera is shaky because, well, I'm shaky. [:I]

The music kicks ass, but I can't take credit for that...

I have a movie of SLKs and one of team quad, but I haven't found the time to finish 'em. I'd also like to make 'em look better on YouTube. I guess I should RTFM, huh?

Actually, I thought it looked fine...

Just a little light on quads... :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

I wasn't going to say it, since he was nice enough to include a few seconds of me in there...

Thanks guys.

I have a whole video with just quads and quad people.

Be patient.

I made this one quick to have something to show civilians who've heard me rave about KP. I had it done a few days after KP. It was 640x480 and looked great played from DVD. Looked like crap when it was reduced for on-line. Ended up processing the original clips before putting them in iMovie. A hassle.

First time for everything. :-D

Did you upload the higher res version, or reduce it before uploading?

My understanding was that you should upload to YouTube at it's preferred res. of 320x240. Getting a clean half size file was the hassle. Exporting out of iMovie into some reduced size always looked funky. I now know how to make it work fairly efficiently, but it was a lot of messing around to get there.

:thanks:

I've heard that too, but it's never worked in practice. I get better results out of uploading the larger file.

Plus, YouTube is (over time) increasing quality on select videos. There's no way to force yours to be one of them that I know of, but you need to have a better copy in the system for if and when yours gets converted.

Time for a new thread? Are you building the hardware from scratch or using an existing motherboard?

Mac from scratch? I though the closed architecture and control over vendors prevented people from building their own.

Not since they went over to Intel. That and, I assume, a little help from Bittorrent.

Times change...

Anyone geeky enough can roll thier own.

Hardware choices are a bit limited right now. Uber Geeks have to figure out how to make a certain HW configuration run and then pass the knowledge down to the masses.

And no, I'm not a machead. I have one of the little MacMinis for the family to use. I mainly work on big servers and use a Dell laptop for email and surfing the kite forums while I'm supposed to be working.

Jeff, I'll try the Quad movie at full res and see what it looks like. Thanks.

as Mike said, once they went Intel, you can roll your own... to an extent...

see this http://lifehacker.com/348653/install-os-x-on-your-hackintosh-pc-no-hacking-required/

I've also already built a vmware appliance with with the Tiger OS in it. Works fine... about as fast as you would expect a vmware machine to be but useful for toying around with..

Our church just got a Mac Pro built to the 9's with all the i-stuff... gonna be quite fun to play with...
