You Know You're Addicted To Kiting When...

Postby Knoted4ever » Sat, Mar 15 2008, 08:49 PM

You know you're addicted to kiting when...

You're not patriotic or nationalistic, but flags have a deep meaning in your life.

You're wife (which happened today, by the way) tells you that her sister, in a distant town, scheduled a family party later at night so that "Tom can get his flying in."

Snow is a four letter word frequently used in disappointment.

Soccer players look despicable.

Blows the wind of spring-

Your co-workers make up the nickname "kitehead" and it sticks.

Your first date with your future wife includes stopping by the P.O. for a triangular box then flying the new kite during the romantic sunset on the beach portion of the date.

Flags, trees, things blowing around on the ground, ripples in the water... anything that will tell me if there is wind

Hector, though i strongly feel that the sacred truly exists, i'm not into organized religion; and, even as a kid, while kneeling in the pews (because we had to) i used to think that God was more outdoors, not confined between some stale four walls. Maybe, just maybe, when you innocently fly, you are connected to a higher intelligence more than those who make a big pretense and bow.

You know when you're addicted to kiting when...

You carry an official Kite Flying License in your wallet, faithfully.

from Stephen Crane:

Walking in the sky,
A man in strange black garb
Encountered a radiant form.
Then his steps were eager;
Bowed he devoutly.
"My Lord," said he.
But the spirit knew him not.

You know your addicted to kites when....

in less than 30 days you travel from the east coast to the west coast just to fly kites

since getting involved in kiting in the last 8 months you've purchased 24 new kites

learned to sew just to make your own kites

when you look for a vehicle that will fit the kites

when almost every room in your house has a kite of some sort in it

when you don't go to the grocery store w/o a kite in vehicle for fear the wind may pick up.

when you plan your year's vacation around kite flying weekends

Does anyone know if there is a Kites Anonymous for this addiction?

Totally Addicted!

 Ain't that the truth. I feel a little anxious when I don't have a kite bag in the back of the car.

Those of us in the Vintage Airstream Club say that we have "Aluminitis".

Do kite addicts have "ripstopitis?

I know for a fact that there is no cure for Aluminitis.

There probably isn't a cure for Ripstopitis either, but who would want to be cured?

Oh..We're addicted allright. Kite flying has changed our lives more than anything except having children.

Lynn and I just take a little trip in our trailer and fly kites. Works for us.
