Fun Fly In Louisville, KY

Postby ZippyD » Tue, Mar 11 2008, 06:25 AM

Hi there folks,
Long time no see. School has me buried. :(
But...
Weather has me dreaming of flying. :)
I thought I would pass this on to you. While a little south of most of your flight paths, I would love to see each and every one of you. It's only listed 12-3, but Ken and I made a day of it last year. The turn out was really quite good and the wind mostly cooperated :)
Be well,
Dan

==================================
The 2nd Annual National Kite Month Kickoff Event at E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park will be Saturday, March 29 from 12:00-3:00 PM. The event will again include a fun fly, contests for oldest and youngest flyer, crowd favorite, and most unique kite, and club demonstrations.

If those of you who attended last year have any ideas to add to this event or to modify from last year, please let me know.

Please let me know if you will be able to attend this year. We heard nothing but good things from the attendees on how beautiful and awesome all of the different kites were.

Hope to see you there!

IKE Sleepover! How many IKE members can fit in your living room?
Seriously though, I'm thinking about it. It's about 4 hours from my house.

We bought a very old house that was lovingly updated in the 60's so every single room needs to be gutted and remodeled. If you can stomach the fur lined valences and the yellow flowered wallpaper, you're welcome to come. An IKE sleepover sounds like a party to me!

Sorry to say but I might have to take pass this year. :( But who knows things may still change. Will post if they do.
Must admit the sleep over IS a very tempting offer thought.

Give it some thought Ken...
I've PM'd Dan and he is perfectly serious about this.

I'm willing to drive a van-load (my van seats 7 including the driver) from my house to Louisville.
Leaving on Friday and returning Saturday night.

Those of you who haven't met Dan, his wife, and son (how old is Tucker? 7?) are in for a treat. They are a fun, wonderful family. Pretty tough competitors on Guitar Hero too (Babb?)

The kite fest may be small, but we can blow them out of the water with our cool stuff.
I will even bring the 180GO! team kites if we've got enough fliers.

You're too kind, Mike. :)

He's right folks, come on down. If there's no wind, we'll play boardgames and wii.

I've missed you kiting types. :)

Hey there Dan. I might be able to make it down there. Our Media day fly for the Otto M. Budig Family Foundation Kitefest (formerly known as Airwaves) is the next day on the 30th at Voice of America park in West Chester, OH. It's only a few hours drive north if anyone is interested in flying both Saturday and Sunday.

The following weekend is our festival on April 5th and 6th. We're planning for better weather this year.

Thanks! It was a fun afternoon, with up and down winds. Bobby (my big blue spiky ball for those who haven't met him) got a lot of play time. All in all a good day.
Airwaves will be a ball, folks.
