Busse Woods. Is that a good place to fly?

It's been used in previous years... but I would think that Soccer may have taken it over... anyone really know?

I've not flown at Busse Woods. Honestly though, it's so wooded around there, I'd be surprised if there was a good area for our kind of flying.

I'll travel whenever I can. This weekend will probably work out for me to come since my wife and daughter have other plans with a friend. It's always tough to spend 4+ hours driving, round trip, but if I can get out early enough so that I have a nice long day to fly, I can deal with it.

On days when I can't get away for the whole day, I could do something further north, but really, Isaac and I are the only ones north of Aurora. We could meet and work on some stuff on our own some time. (There's a really nice open set of sports fields in Vernon Hills, for example. I'm really not that familiar with anything between there and Milwaukee, though.)

I feel the same way, Jeff. It's gotta be a full day of flying if I'm doing all that driving.

Looks like the Bong Rec Area is about half way between Milwaukee and Round Lake

Lisle is a really nice place to fly. Just about guaranteed space. The wind can be bad, but the field is open enough that you can move around. And bad wind makes you a better flyer. We haven't been to Busse Woods for a while. Every time we went there on a Saturday it was packed with soccer.

It matters none to me where, I am more or less half way from anywhere. I would just like to do some strong team practice.

Well, I will be unable to check the board today as I have a seminar at work... hopefully we can work something out for a practice?

Mike, if you can give me a call this afternoon and let me know the poop, I would appreciate it..

Ok, here's the deal:
Since it's a long drive, might as well make it a day of it

Meet at 9am at the Lisle location listed above. (Babb will meet up whenever he can)
(Lisle Community Park... go to 53 & Short St. Go West, go over the little bridge and make a left into the parking lot... portapotty onsite.. )

It will be a mix of practice and goofing around.

Bring lunch, or we'll drive to some lunch place nearby.

If 3 other people will be there in the morning, I will be there.

Who's in?

I'm out guys, I have a birthday party to attend with my daughter.
It's a great satisfaction knowing that for a brief point in time you made a difference.

Mike would that be on Saturday or Sunday? Our schedule is full on Saturday. Sunday is Nick's 16th Birthday and the only thing he said he wanted to do was fly kites. So if it is Sunday count us in. If not, we will probably go to Pontiac, IL.

Let us know,
Thanks!

Mike, Nick, and Zack too...

I will be there early afternoon... probably noon...

Zach, Elizabeth and Ann will be there probably around 11:00am?

I'm assuming we're still talking Saturday.

It's hard for me to be there really early, but perhaps 10 or 10:30.

yes, Saturday is still the day. Sorry if it was unclear.
looks like we might not have a quorum until around 11 or 12.

With the wind forecast being for stronger morning winds and tiny winds in the afternoon, I think I'll pass.
That's too much driving for too little flying for me. But that shouldn't be a problem. You guys can still get together and practice without me.
It would be cool to be able to do a compound benefits. Eventually, we'll add a blender too. Meanwhile, think: straight lines, columns, speed and spacing.

well guys, I got word yesterday that the services for my friend Mike run from 10:30 - 1:30 and then at 2pm is the actual funeral which, while I initially considered skipping out of, I realized that I just cannot do that and feel good about myself....

I'm suggesting that in consideration of this, of Mike not coming up and only Jeff, Ken and Zach committing to showing up, that we reschedule...

If I don't see anyone posting here before 8am, I'm going to call around and make sure everyone knows...

The only problem I have is that I do not have Jeff's number..

OK... since weekends seem to be difficult, how do some of you guys feel about trying to get together during the week?

I know that I can take vacation days here and there and have done so and met up with Mike and Jeff before... I also know that some people don't get vacation days or preferto use them for other things..

But, we need to see if all of our excitement about team flying matches the commitment necessary to get this off the ground and look like we know what we are doing. All we need is 4 people to start off... more is better... but right now, Mike and myself make 2.... are there 2 others who can swing it?

Let's discuss it.
