We'll be able to make Woodridge, if we have a field to fly on.

If it's the same field as that festival in May, and if whomever marked that on the mapping site was correct, then it should be this field just south of the aquatic park...

Is that the right spot?

Right spot Jeff...

Well, since this fly is on this coming Saturday, let's put it at this spot, 9am...

This is the same day as the Morton Arboretum fly that Dave needs a single flyer for. I was hoping that maybe we could swap people in and out of that event. It's about 15 mins from Woodridge and there is only enough room for 1 person to fly. Of course, the weather will be the deciding factor as the spot there will only tolerate flying with the wind from one direction, according to Dave..

I'll take the 1st shift. Any other volunteers?

Now, the biggest problem that could come up is the soccer/baseball seasons... Most of the park districts still don't know what the practice schedules are so there is the distinct possibility that this field (and every other open spot in the Chicago suburbs) could be filled with soccer and baseball teams. I'm trying to get information from the park districts on what's available and when. Hopefully should know something tomorrow.

Whatcha all thank?

Chris (aka Babbman)

i'll probably come if the weather is OK! It makes me a bit apprehensive about other sport events competing with us possibly... we'd likely have to leave the field.

Babbman posted elsewhere that the field is available so we are good to go.

I'm currently on a road trip with my son checking out grad schools, and I've got a crummy internet connection here so that's all I gotta say!

i said something to Marla, my wife, last night about going Saturday... and she said that she may have to babysit our niece out of town that day. If so, i'll have to stay with our dogs at home (one of which is older and has to go a lot... kind of like how i'll be getting soon enough). She said it's a 50/50 chance and it's up to her sister regarding some stuff. i will be understanding; for one thing, she'll be doing my parrots for me during Grand Haven and such!

CLUB FLY DIRECTIONS

----------------

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... 1&t=h&om=1

FROM THE NORTH

Take I-355 south to the 75th St Exit. You will want to be in the inside lane for turning right.

Turn right onto 75th St.

Go to the 1st Stop light which is Janes Ave and turn Left.

Go south on Janes Ave. When you pass through the stop light at 83rd St., the Aquatic Center will be on your left.

---------------------

FROM THE SOUTH

take I-355 north to the Boughton Rd. Exit (this is all under construction so I don't know what to tell you to expect)

Turn Left onto Boughton Rd.

Go to Janes Ave which should be the 1st major road after exiting I-355. Turn right

Go north about a mile or so. You will see the Aquatic Center on the right. If you cross 83rd St, you went too far.

----------------------

according to the Athletic director of the Woodridge Park District, there are no teams scheduled to use the field. This does not mean that some coach who is living life through a kids eye has not decided to schedule a practice... but if we get there early enough, we should have things covered... hopefully...

I have really come to despise soccer and everything associated with it...

as I said before, I have to make an appearance at Morton Arboretum at 10am to see if the conditions are right to fly for Dave. There is only enough room at the Arboretum for 1 or 2 flyers on short lines with stunt kites... The arboretum is about 15 mins north of the Woodridge site. If there is any way we can rotate a couple of people in and out of there (again, as long as the wind direction corporates there), it would look good for the club and would help our sponsor out.

Any volunteers?

Currently, the forcast seems to be cloudy, 62 degF with about 10mph winds.

For reference, my Cell phone number is 630-240-2158... I plan on being at the park around 8 or 8:30am on Saturday.

Without soccer enthusiasts we wouldn't have the field selection we have. Getting info outa the park districts regarding soccer is tough cause many of the soccer teams are organized, staffed, and scheduled by a seperate outfit, the AYSO? American Youth Soccer Org or something. So soccer operates a little differently then other park district programs. Call the pd and ask when Little League starts and you'll likely have a schedule, 12 kids and a coaches manual in your hands before you hang up the phone. They for the most part are hands off with the soccer programs.

I'm very courious how AYSO is funded and how they got the soccer programs at pd's? Seems there's gotta be some benefit to the pd's to maintain, acres of soccer fields all year.

I'll be there at some point!

I was worried I'd have to work, but it's pretty close to the office so I can skip out early/go in later and still come play. Woop!
