it's very quiet
in fact it's so quiet, the Tapatalk app keeps threatening to remove us.
So I'm posting this to keep everything active.
Later this month, we can have a club fly. Maybe Pontiac? Maybe Chicago.

Wheaton Kite Festival is this weekend. I might get out there. Not sure though, there's no "club" field. Lots of kids, trees, buildings.

Re: it's very quiet
I have tossed around an idea w/Tony Killip...Tony and I have met at the Iowa80 Truckstop {WORLDS LARGEST TRUCKSTOP} in Walcott,Iowa
They have a GREAT open area for flying LARGE kites, and extra areas for flying 2line stunt kites. I'm sure a lot of us have been by it and know where it is located...a lot of open space within view of spectators, and ample parking,no trees or power lines, etc.
I will be passing thru there again on Friday....if I can get the OK from Iowa80 Staff...was thinking about having a meetup on Saturday or Sunday May 28 or 29 if anyone else is interested and the weather co-operates

John,
Where are you coming from? That's a bit over two hours for me and some of the Chicago area members, but quite a bit more for some of our more active members, who are downstate and east.

Re: it's very quiet
If anyone's interested in tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, I should be able to meet up.
And Mark, we've got to get together soon at Busse during the week for an old man's fly.

Wheaton Kite Festival http://wheatonparkdistrict.com/events/goflyakite/ is 10-2 pm . . . . maybe . . . depends on the weather. They say they will cancel if the weather is bad. David wants to go, so we might go in the morning if the weather is OK.
Also, my son has a soccer game at 130, so I won't be there after about 1 pm or so (if we go). If the weather is good I might go fly somewhere after his game, but it would be somewhere else (the location of the festival is not ideal for flying)

Saturday or Sunday maybe others could join us if anyone is available.

Sunday is mother's day, so I'd be pushing my luck to fly. But I might push my luck.

Re: it's very quiet
Update on Wheaton for tomorrow - David has tech crew in the morning, and soccer in the afternoon, so if I make it to the Wheaton festival it will be at most from about 1030 to noon.
Re: it's very quiet - Wheaton Kite Fest
The skies cleared after the morning showers so I made a last minute decision to join Steve at the Wheaton Fest.
I arrived early to fly in lumpy winds but before the crowds showed up. Which made for even more challenges.
Steve had his Shook Mesh out on short lines.
And was harassing entertaining the passersby as usual.

Nice photos, as usual. Thanks Bill.
Glad you guys were able to get out.
I'm hoping the skies are clear in Champaign tomorrow.
