Nice job on the template change. Wasn't digging the default blue!
I decided I needed a signature line, so I wrote this.

I was thinking the same thing on the photo sizes as Mark. It looks like the new photo sizes are much larger than before. Don't want Mike to get hammered with charges for the storage space though . . . .

The max photo size probably won't increase, it would make posts with photos take too long to load and use too much bandwidth, especially for folks on cell phones.
I plan on looking for a way to auto-resize photos when posting.
I know it's a pain right now.

I think you are saying that we still have to resize (which is not a big issue IMHO, just slightly time consuming). So maybe they just display larger than before on the new forum software.

If you don't want to resize to host/upload to the forum, you can always host elsewhere and then link to the forum . . . .

thanks! Tons of css code to look through, but I'm getting there!
I also got rid of a lot of the icons. They're just busy looking and don't add much.
You'll get a red dot next to forums/topics you haven't read, but otherwise nothing.

And you probably know it, but the IKE logo in the upper left corner has gone missing.

Mike - Small comment - it seems like the emails I get notifying me of updates to the threads take me to the top of the thread, not the last post. I think the old forum used to put you right at the last post (or at least the one that triggered the email). Is that a setting on notifications or something it used to include in the linked URL?

Just tried it and it did go to the top of the thread for me also.

And did we lose the calendar? Not that it was that important I guess.

Just tried it again, and it came straight to Bill's latest post. I wonder if it gets confused if there's more than one post after the email gets sent, or if another page is added to the thread. Or Mike fixed it in 3 minutes.

I would like the calendar link back . . . .

The modifications I did to the old forum for the calendar aren't compatible with the upgraded forum software.
I did add a link to the regular IKE Google calendar and Google maps to the bottom of the Quick Links menu.

I don't have an answer to the email/link to post thing. I'm not sure there's much I can do about it. If it is repeatable I can file a bug report with the forum software folks.

Hey Mike, thanks for the update to the forum ... lots of work I know. Here's a few of thoughts:

1) I'm on a kite forum that does auto-resizing of photos ... since it's much easier for folks to post photos it seems like there are more posted! Which is a good thing.

2) Hosting your photos on another website and then referencing them from IKE is not a good long term practice. Host sites change, you might drop ownership, links are lost, etc. When that happens, all your work goes up in smoke and folks trying to see what you've done see a blank icon instead.

3) Picky I know ... bring the "Unread Posts" icon to the forefront. When I open up the forum, that's where my interest is ... don't make me dig for the icon.

And this time, the email link put me right to Jeepsters recent post.

1. I've looked into it. Unfortunately, that isn't possible with this forum software. It's a real pain to resize a photo on your computer before uploading, I know. The earliest versions of this forum did that, but it got lost along the way.

2. I agree.

3. I agree with this too, thus my dislike for hamburger menus. You can bookmark the unread posts link like I described above. I'll put an icon next to the Quick Links menu eventually too.

Regarding photo posting. It does appear that the max file size has increased based on my experiments. At least 500 KB as far as I can tell. At least double the previous, if I recall. That helps. Thanks for that, Mike.

We'll try this. I've upped the allowable photo size even more.

This photo is an original at 1.2MB and it's dimensions are: 3008 x 2000
I just dragged it into the composing window.

We'll see if it slows you down when looking at a forum posting with a bunch of photos.
There will be a limit to the number of large photos you can put in a single post.

Nice size increase! Should be adequate. I do like the drag and drop method of adding photos now. Much easier.
Max photos per post used to be six if I recall.
