Mark and I are planning to be at Busse Woods tomorrow for a few hours starting at about 12:30.

Come on out if you have the afternoon off.

Mark and I spent about 3 and a half hours at Busse Woods. Winds were about 12 mph with occasional gusts to zero. ;) Flew a few different Revs.

Mark tweaked my Rev II so that it flew even better.

Looks like a good time.

What were the tweaks to the Rev 2?

The vertical bungies were way loose when I received it. I had only tightened the bottom ones prior to my first flight. But too much. So we slightly relaxed what I had done on the bottoms. And then tightened the tops, too.

I figured it was the bungies, but you never know when Mark gets his hands on a rev! One thing, you can pretty much guarantee that it will be lighter when he gets done with it . . . . actually (off topic), I really like Mark's approach of wrapping blue painter's tape on the spar ends to prevent sand from getting in the end caps. Simple, effective, light, better than the original rubber "sleeves" that don't work, and easily reversible.

Yeah I was surprised how firmly the rods got "stuck" in the caps after a short time flying at Cape May off the sand. I may have to do Mark's tape trick before the IKE retreat.

Yay! Internet is back -- two days without leaves a lot to catch up on.

Lots of fun flying the Rev II's with Bill at Busse Woods. Just some minor field adjustments to his; the uprights were sticking out about 1-1/2" inches above the leading edge. After you fly the Rev II, flying the 1.5 becomes easy and precise. Ready to go again anytime. Plenty of weekend left to do it. Hey, Steve, you have a Rev II or two. How about some Rev II team time?

The painters' tape works great, but takes a while to prep each kite, unless you prepare a couple of spare "sand" frames for the beach. I've had some endcaps made by local machine shop. I designed them for my newest project (the H2EXTREME), that should be done by the end of July. Absolutely sand-proof and about 50% weight reduction over standard Rev endcap/bungee combo.

If you like the tape idea, Steve, you're gonna love these endcaps. And at $15 each ($90/kite) they're a real bargain!

I've got a couple Rev ][s too, I'm pretty sure.
We can fly Rev II team at the retreat too. Should be a hoot.
Or maybe we should fly a team of BackTracker's! (I have one)

If I remember, I'll bring my rev 2s in September. We should also do some team flying on the speed series kites.... That would be fun too!

Oops, almost forgot -- thanks for the pictures, Bill. You always take the time to take some good ones, and I really appreciate it!
