Geneva Kite Fest (Because it's close.)
DeKalb Kite Festival (It was fun last year.)
IKE Retreat (For sand in my shoes and smooth wind.)
That supposed new fest in Sugar Grove.

Hey Bill,
FYI: I just learned that the Red Rock fest isn't a kite festival. 180Go! will fly for a short while in the afternoon and that's it. Not to discourage you from coming, but just letting you know.

Thanks Mike. That's good to know. May change our plans.

Anyone else bound for Kites Over Hoover Park in West Branch, Iowa this weekend? 180Go is scheduled to perform. And I understand that the date has been moved to Sunday due to weather.

The Hoover fest is one of the small festivals where they bring in 180GO! to entertain the public. At these festivals there may be no other serious kiters. So if no one else is coming, Bill, you may be the only other sport kiter :)

looking ahead at our 180GO! schedule, these festivals have more kiters to play with:
Fair Oaks (first year, but its looking pretty good)
Wildwood (tons of fliers)
Jamestown
Green Bay
Two Rivers

We won't be at DeKalb, but there's usually a good turnout of other fliers there too.

Gotcha. It's not too far and the Sunday weather looks decent. Plus I've never seen 180GO! perform as a team before. I am planning on attending Monee and Fair Oaks, too.

I would like to go to Hoover, but I need a ride. I will pay 100% of the fuel cost round trip. If anyone is interested in picking me up, please post up here.

Thank You.

Had a great time at the Monee Kite Fest today. The 180GO! team was in attendance.

Thanks to the 180GO! team for letting me fly for a few minutes with them today. They have oodles of patience.

Thanks for posting. Sorry I missed today . . . just did not get done with tasks early enough, and when I checked the web site at 12:20 . . . I figured out the festival ended at 2 and I'd get there at 1:30 . . . .

See you next weekend at Fair Oaks Farm!

Jim - I stopped in to that one about 1:30 when I figured I couldn't make it to Monee. They were wrapping up when I got there - I think Chicago Fire only had one more demo when I got to the field. The wind was pretty light and variable. I only stayed for a short time as my son had a soccer game at 3 pm. Wind was better on his soccer field . . . but I didn't have a kite out there . . . .

The missus and I are vacationing the end of the month in Colorado. I'm excited to have our own little Kites in Colo. But I made the booboo of mentioning a certain store in Boulder that happens to be enroute.
Honestly, how a can I pass up visiting in the wind?

I haven't been there in years. It's a nice kite store, but Boulder is a terrible place to fly kites!

Here's a link to some photos I shot during the Great Lakes Kite Festival last weekend.

Also, during the event, I broadcasted a Chicago Fire Kite Team performance live, using Twitter's "Periscope" app. I later posted the video to Facebook (you don't need a Facebook account to view it). I would not normally shoot video in portrait mode, but Periscope unfortunately does not support landscape mode.

And lovely wife Peggy shot this short video of a portion of a performance by the Windjammers International Kite Team. It was the first time in a while that team member Nate (who has some health issues) appeared, enabling historic seven-stack performances.
I decided I needed a signature line, so I wrote this.
