Jewel pocket kite

Postby Chris » Tue, Jan 16 2007, 09:42 PM

I got bored last night and decided to make my three year old daughter a kite. I had picked up a 5 dollar pocket sled at Jewel a few weeks ago(go figure), and decided to tear it apart, and make templates out of it. It is similar to the pocket sled Mike showed Ken and Myself how to make(I blame Mike for this whole sewing thing :P ), except the scoops are sewn as part of the front of the kite.

Including the reverse engineering, it took about two hours from start to finish. The original kite didn't have that cool pink fuzzy tail, I had to try one, really easy and looks neat too

Here's Maddy with her new kite:

We'll go out and fly it tomorrow

I wish I was bored... :rotfl these catherine's wheels are major projects when you do a 48 cell...

That kite looks great... I hope it flies well..

if it does, I'll have to borrow the plans from you and make one for Elie...

Nice colors, did you let Maddy pick them? Looks great, she will have a blast with it. Will also be proud as a peacock when asked, where did you get it and says "DAD made it for ME!!"

She wanted a pink kite, so I had her pick the other two colors. I never would have thought to choose pink, purple and yellow  ; but I like how they look together  I might make something bigger with those colors

Chris... you should move this to the 'Complete Creations' topic...

Here's a plan I found through kitebuilder forums for a pocket sled...
