2015 festivals!

Postby goestoeleven » Fri, Nov 14 2014, 08:09 AM

Shiny new forum!

Starting to think about next year . . . .

First one of the year is Cool Fool in Milwaukee.

Next up, Treasure Island, FL - MLK weekend

I'm definitely starting to think about it...would love to do Florida in January.

Now they run the Treasure Island Fest, and the local club runs Kitemania 2 or 3 weeks later. But I think most people will likely do the Treasure Island fest, no? I know it's better for me on the MLK weekend.
Keep calm, and park it in the pocket

Yeah, I wish the club didn't confuse things by making their fest at almost the same time.
I don't know which one most people will go to now.

Looks like Grand Haven, the Great Lakes Kite Festival 2015, is May 16 and 17.

Thanks for posting. Added to the IKE calendar.

Yeah . . . I really need to do my annual "look at all the kite shop web sites and find all the festivals" run to get the complete calendar. Haven't gotten around to that yet . . . too busy.

OK, so I finally got around to adding festivals to the calendar. A bit late this year . . . .

Here's another link to the calendar:

I know we're not taking the year off . . . . although I probably won't get to as many festivals as last year. I'm planning on 180Go! at Clear Lake next . . . .

added a few more fests / events since the last time, including Kite Party in HB, CA

I also updated the IKE calendar above to include the HKS and Wisconsin Kiters events (the "open" ones).

No problem. You can add the IKE calender to your Google calendar (if you use Google calendars). I don't remember how to add it, but it shows up in my Google calendar, which is pretty convenient.

When you view the Google Calendar, there's a button down at the lower right...

It will add the calendar as a selectable layer on your calendar.

I think because I had already added it, maybe the "plus" was missing.

For the rest of the IKE people, if you click the calendar link above/right, then there's a link from there to view the calendar in Google calendar.

Yep that's the way I've had it set up for a while. Just need you to do all the hard work. ;)

My tentative 2015 kite festival plans:

    Kites over Hoover Park
    Monee Kite Festival
    Fair Oaks Farm Kite Festival
Have to miss the Grand Haven event due to the work thing.
Lake Red Rock Balloon and Kite Fest. (Got the missus going with me to this for a long weekend in Iowa. She's thrilled with my choice of vacation spots.)
Geneva Kite Fest (Because it's close.)
DeKalb Kite Festival (It was fun last year.)
IKE Retreat (For sand in my shoes and smooth wind.)
That supposed new fest in Sugar Grove.

Hey Steve, the map link on our calendar page for the fest in Madison, Indiana takes you to Madison, Wisconsin. Hope you see this post.
