Hey - you were ready to stay downtown all day . . . .

Since I'm not going downtown I agreed to pick up the dogs from the vet so the wife can go out with a friend who is going through a rough time right now.

That's a better plan . . .

I agree. Even though it's warmer than what I anticipated, there are no winds. The winds look terrible. My vote is for tomorrow. I'll be checking the forum frequently for the next 45 min. on this.

The automated WX station at DPA has the winds at about 8 to 12 mph over the last half hour. I plan on being there.

But I can also fly tomorrow.

I'm planning to go. Just finished cleaning up more leaves in the yard (since it might snow). Leaving in a few minutes.

I probably can't fly tomorrow.

Four of us got together in St. Charles. Dave, Todd, Steve and myself. Flew for about 90 minutes until the wind went away. Then adjourned for some indoor flying. Steve showed us newbies the basics.

Steve was also flying a single line indoor kite. The name of which escapes me. And of which I did not get a decent photo.

Thanks for posting the pictures, and for loaning us the hangar!

It's an Emong by Flying Wings.

For Big Mike's benefit - I only hit the stuff hanging below the ceiling a couple times. I figured it would be a bit challenging to retrieve the Emong if it looped over either the heating ducts or the fire suppression system . . . . .

Thanks again Bill. It was uniquely interesting. I never considered flying a glider before. If I can find a large open space to use sometime I may end up buying one. Definitely a different skill set.

Or a large indoor space . . . . say about the size of a hangar . . . . or maybe an empty shopping mall . . . .

Actually, they are really good for outdoors on days when there's little to no wind.

Now that you know about indoor, you'll have to come to some of the other festivals. I'm pretty sure GLKF (Grand Haven) has an evening of indoor in a local gym, and at KOLM (Two Rivers), we fly indoor at the Holiday Inn (big open central courtyard with very high ceilings.

There's a good chance I could make it in the spring.

Walking backwards, or pulling with your arms, generates the lift...

Go search YouTube for indoor kite flying. Plenty out there (including revolutions).

I can't right now (at work).

I had forgotten that I had grabbed a short, hand-held video of Steve flying his indoor Rev. I almost missed his hand catch at the end.

Nice bit of flying there, Steve.
I decided I needed a signature line, so I wrote this.
