I checked with Adventure Dog, we are in! Montrose at lunch (she is not very punctual, and she's working at it being better).

I'll check the weather on Thursday/Friday and we'll decide whether we're still going to do it. At least there's no snow in the forecast...

Was hoping to make this, but it isn't going to happen for me. Hope everyone has a great time.

RSVP:

Sorry, will be unable to attend. Just returned from six weeks out in the Southwest and now going through temperature decompression. Going from 90s to 30s in one week is painful.

Cheers,
Tom

The current forecast for Saturday is a "realfeel" temps in the low 20's with 8mph winds.
Sounds a bit too cold for me...

Re-look at forecast tomorrow?

Not sure of the current attendee count. There may be some "lurkers" out there who plan to show up but haven't said anything.

If it is too cold for you (and/or the attendance is too small), maybe we just meet for a couple hours in the western 'burbs (St. Charles ESSC), then I'd be willing to try to indoor flying at the nearby (mostly) empty mall for an hour or so.

As of right now, I count:

Mike K.
Rose K. (afternoon)
Makatakam (Mark) - but Mark sometimes can't make it due to bad weather so ??
Tmadz - Todd
Illescasd - David
Goestoeleven - me

??Basicbill - has said no (due to city-aversion), but I keep asking him to come . . . . so I'd like to count him as a yes, but can't yet . . .

I've been leaning towards attending despite not liking the location. I'd be up for the western location, obviously. And/or I can offer our temporarily empty hangar at the DPA airport for some indoor flying, too.

Even though I wouldn't come out to play when it's this cold, the reason I can't fly this Saturday is that I have to work. Probably won't fly again until Spring.

My local (not Montrose) forecast is showing high of 32, wind chill of 26 at 2 pm tomorrow. Wind chill of 21 at 11 am.

7 mph out of the southwest.

If it's still on, I will see you at Montrose tomorrow late morning-ish.

If it's canceled, I'd still go fly at the St Charles ESSC in the afternoon for a hour or two until I'm frozen (and then get Bill to open the hangar).

Let's cancel it and try again in spring when we might have a bigger turnout.
I think you guys should go fly indoors. I also think it would be fun to schedule an official club indoor fly this winter, if possible.

Thought temps might be borderline for you. If Bill opens the hanger up, you're welcome to drive out and join us for indoor. I don't think the hanger is empty very often (I'm guessing the company plane is getting an annual), so this might be the only opportunity to use that facility.

OK . . . back after some calls I had to make this morning. I'm sad that the team flying clinic is canceled, but I think we can still fly (sorry guys, you'll just have to deal with my calling - plan on lots of edges and pez).

Looking at the attendee list, it's all Western suburbs except for Mike & Rose. Rose said she'd only be able to make the afternoon. That leaves me, Todd, Bill, and David, who are all local to the ESSC. If Bill will let us into the hanger, I propose that we team fly tomorrow afternoon from about 1230-1pm until maybe 2:30 - 3 pm (depending on the cold) at the ESSC. Then we'll go to the hangar for some indoor flying for an hour or two. I'll bring an emong, old beat up indoor rev, and zero-G for indoor flying.

If we get super excited by our indoor flying, we can just keep going and have some pizzas delivered . . . . I might even bring some beer.

12:30 at the East Side Sports Complex sounds good to me. (The hottest part of the day, so to speak.) The hangar is about 5 minutes away, heated and is about 60 x 60 feet by about 20 feet of height inside.

I'll also bring one of my entry level quad-copters for anyone who might be interested in taking a try at that.

I can definitely make it. I may not be able to stay for the indoor flying, but we'll see how the time goes.

Since I'm not going downtown I agreed to pick up the dogs from the vet so the wife can go out with a friend who is going through a rough time right now.
