Saturday? (10/25)

Postby goestoeleven » Wed, Oct 22 2014, 05:06 PM

Again? Weather is looking favorable. East Side Sports complex?

(Disclaimer - have NOT checked with the wife, and it IS our anniversary weekend, so I might be getting myself into trouble AGAIN)

Give him/her a Rev as a birthday present and a day of flying it.

Hey kids, for the party, we are going to have a trip to the East Side Sports park so you can all run around for a bit . . .

Good deal. If we have three (or more), we can work on figure 8s, edges, ball and burst, benefits, pez, landings and ????

That was fun on a warm, windy Autumn day. Mark, Dave, Xay, Dave, Steve and myself. Working in a small group like this helps my confidence. Thanks for coming out guys!

Good flying with all of you guys. Lots of fun, lots of learning and tons of smiles.

As usual, I was first on and last off the field. Staying for that pre-sunset wind is nearly always worth it. After everyone left, it slowed down to a nice, silky-smooth, lower full-vent range. Stayed like that until the sun went down. Wish you guys could have stayed to fly it.

Yeah, pretty gusty today ... sooooooo, who's working on that variable venting system that can change as the winds change?

I thought I'd ask this here rather than start a new topic.

Last week Steve introduced me to the "Pez" manuever. He, Mark, Xay and I practiced it a few times.

My question: is this normally flown at the right edge of the window down to the inverted slide? Or is it flown down from the left window edge also? We were doing it from the right and that is how it is shown in Mike's animations and diagrams.

Also, is a landing what usually happens next from the inverted slide? Inverted landing? Upright? I think Steve had us doing an upright landing.

I was out practicing it today (among other things) following imaginary kites.

Thanks,

Bill

The Pez is usually flown at the right side of the window, but it doesn't have to be. It also doesn't have to flow into an inverted slide, you just have to follow what the leader does at the bottom. I would say it rarely ends with a landing.
Sometimes I come out of a Pez with a "reverse" Pez :0
That is, after sliding down while facing right, when you're at the bottom, you fly forward a bit and the slide up, keeping the same orientation (facing right the whole time).
Just follow the leader...

Maybe we'll do that on the clinic day.

I don't recall landing from the pez . . . . you might be thinking of the rollover landings we tried, which usually "follow the leader" as he/she comes down the right side of the figure 8.

Sometimes I did the slide from the pez, and I think sometimes I "flipped" the kite to face left, and flew it out.

As Mike said, it's usually follow the leader from the pez (and for many of the team flying moves).
