Dutchrev from..... The Netherlands
Dutchrev from..... The Netherlands
Hi all, Friends who like the wind and kites,
Me and my kites (& wife, kids & dog) live in Vinkeveen a little town in the Netherlands. Main passion is the Revolution. Flying them, build them (own use), teach other people flying them and the team flight. With other pilots I participated in the creation of the basic team fly standard Jst-4-Fn. Ofcourse there is the wonderfull Mega-fly figures from Mike Kory. But what if you want to step into the line, what are the very basic calls... With pilots from several countries we created a basic set and we are very proud and happy it is in use. When pilots meet somewhere in Europe we can have a team flight right away. And we use the calls for helping the newbies to make the step easier. As far a we can see it works: more people start the team flight, international rev meetings have been held. You can find the manual on revkites.com / learn to fly.
So this is my Hello to you all ..... Jst-4-Fn

Read it all the way through. Good place to start so everyone is on the same page. Mandatory reading for all, even those with some experience.

If you like that one (and it's very good for beginning team flying), you should also check out this page for learning rev techniques and moves, and this mega fly manual written by our very own IKE leader, Mike Kory for more advanced team flying.

Wondered when that would pop up :)

The mega fly manual is in Holland also mandatory material. The flying technique pages are indeed very good stuff for all newbies.
One of the actions we like to do in Holland is give free rev-clinics. We announce them on a dutch forum and on the day experienced pilots and training equipement are available for people who always wanted to try-a-rev but never made the step. The end of each clinic is a number of fresh addicted pilots
During kite festivals the Jst-4-Fn thought is practiced by a demo of the Dutch Quad Team Air-4-ce followed by a mega fly of all available rev pilots on the festival. And after this an invitation by the speaker to the public "try-a-rev"... pilots are ready for you for the coming hour. Big fun and ofcourse we have little cards at hand with usefull web adresses etc. Last festival I had even a Canadian man for a try-a-rev.. and for sure a Canadian Kite dealer has a new customer

Very nice. We've had some similar successes with learn to fly, but not quite as organized (at least recently). I like the idea of demoing the jst-4-fn flying moves while the announcer explains what the audience is seeing, followed soon by learn to fly. You are right, that will result in more pilots. Maybe we will try it at the next festival (in two weeks).
Re: Dutchrev from..... The Netherlands
Where in The Netherlands are you from? I go back and forth to northwest Germany all the time (Papenburg, specifically) ... I'm about 45 minutes from Groningen.

Under his avatar it says Vinkeveen, which is near Amsterdam?

Didn't notice that, doh! Yeah, a bit far unfortunately (2.5 hours) ... no matter, we've been working so much I haven't had time to fly even if I had found a good place to do it...
