Quick fly over the holiday week

Postby TMadz » Sat, Dec 22 2012, 03:19 PM

I don't know if people have taken time off to be with family or just to use it up, but I'm up for a quick club fly anytime through the New Years holiday. I'm open to most anywhere in the Chicago area if the schedule allows. Consider it a tune up to Treasure Island, if you like.

Maybe, just maybe next weekend. I'm working Thursday / Friday, and have too many other things between now and then what with Xmas and all . . .

There's also Cool Fool in Milwaukee on the 1st. I might be able to make that . . .

I think I can do Saturday afternoon. Anyone else?

Been spending LOTS of time with the family and I think the family may need a break soon.

OK. Let's talk location. Since Say is in Elgin maybe something on the westside is good. Is Eastside park in St Charles off of Kirk rd reasonably central for everyone? I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Eastside park is nice, but not good for SLK.

Say, I was hooing we could find something a little more central if David or Steve is coming from Wheaton. I have a committment until noon and then I would head out.

I thought east side park because the soccer fields on the north end are wide open and should get some wind for SLK's if we're on the south end of the field. Winds are supposed to be out of the WNW tomorrow.

Sorry Jim, but I wasn't planning on going that far out, although the beach flying is really tempting. I got this Benson Gemini and I can't get the right wind to fly it. I need smooth winds. It's REALLY floaty.

I don't think it's a good idea to fly SLK near the airport it's only a block or so away. The FAA said 5 mile.

That's true, but let me make two points. The runways are north-south and we'll be directly west of the middle of the runways. Also, if we keep them below 300' I think we'll be ok. But don't let me pressure you into how high you fly your kites. ;) I don't want to make you uncomfortable. :-D

David, do you have a preference? I can make it up to Elgin, but it'll take me longer.

Ok, I can make 1 30 and it seems both are in Elgin so I would prefer the one more south. Please confirm place (address) & time. What are the winds are looking like?

OK. I know where the ball fields on Southwind are. Just off Rt 25 between Brtlett rd and Stearns rd. I'll be there around 12:30.

Right now it looks like winds will be mid to upper teens with temps around 32F.

Guys - sorry, but I won't be able to make it on Saturday. I have a commitment starting at noon. I don't know how much of the afternoon it's going to take, but it will be several hours at a minimum. Wish I could make it but I don't think it will work out.
