Club fly weekend of 4/28-29?
No festivals on any calendars as far as I can tell, so maybe this is a good weekend for a club fly.
So here's my scheduling challenge . . . I'm going to have a cub scouts den meeting on the 28th (time TBD, but late afternoon is probable), and my kids have a piano recital at 1:30 on the 29th. These limit my travel options, and I haven't discussed a club fly with my wife yet . . . so we'll see. However, I still want to get out and fly for at least a few hours. Anyone up for it? One thought for location . . . we go crash TMadz flying field out in Sugar Grove as a "welcome to IKE" or perhaps Red Hawk Park. I haven't checked into Greene Valley's opening yet, so I don't know if that's a possible option. Of course, we'll need TMadz to tell us where his secret field is located . . ..

I might be able to attend depending on what comes up between now and then. I will keep an eye on this thread, and see where it ends up.
Re: Club fly weekend of 4/28-29?
if it ends up a little further south, I might come too...
If not, the weekend of May 5-6 is the Decatur, IL festival. Perhaps we'll see folks there.

Donn and I may be able to do 4/28. We just want to be able to fly with a group that just loves flying. The 29th we can't do anything. I'll keep an eye out on the thread.

I'm in Charleston, Il and you're in Racine. It's unlikely that we'll find a spot that works for both of us. I suggest that this club fly leans further north, to enable our new members to participate.

No secret place, it's right outside my window. What so hard about that?
I'm actually out of town at a Scout campout next weekend, but thanks anyway. I hope we can schedule something soon. It's best when the winds are due east or west. North/South winds aren't as consistent, but still plentiful.

So TMadz is out . . . . I'll have a chat with the wife about Saturday and see what we can work out. My guess is Sunday is out.

My secret field is Belle Vue Park in Sugar Grove. There is a better park that I haven't gone out to because I haven't needed to but I will sometime. It is the Sugar Grove Sports Complex. It's at the NW corner of Aurora airport. It is surrounded by corn fields and a couple of miles away from me. Maybe we can schedule something soon.

Heya strangers,
I could do next weekend, either day. The 28th would probably work better, but I can juggle things for Sunday if the wind is better.

From the breezy FL beaches;
I'm home this weekend, so I'm game either day or place.

I have a conflict on Saturday, time unknown, so that's probably out for me.

Re: Club fly weekend of 4/28-29?
Weather's not looking too favorable on Saturday - rain forecasted as I post this update. I'm going to keep my eye out and will post here again tomorrow evening if the weather outlook improves, but right now I'm not planning to fly on Saturday.
If I do fly on Saturday, with the wind forecasted out of the east, I'm not sure which field I'd choose. My closest local ones have trees on the east side. Plus, I probably have to be home by about 3 pm so that limits my distance.
I might be able to fly Sunday morning or for a short bit on Sunday afternoon after 3 pm if that works as an alternative.
Wish the forecast was better . . . .

I may end up just going to Vernon Hills on Sunday. Probably in the morning, if the wind is looking good. Yeah, Saturday isn't looking so nice (though I don't have anything against flying in the rain most of the time, rain + <60°F temps is too hard-core for me.

Weather still looks pretty lousy for Saturday (morning especially). Cold, high wind and rain showers. I'm not planning to fly tomorrow. Maybe we'll get a club fly in a few weeks. Glad I got out for an hour this evening after work - at least I got a little time on the handles.
I might still get out for a few hours on Sunday - local / western suburbs. Danada or Red Hawk are possibilities. There's a slight chance I'll be in Park Ridge with a free hour or two later in the afternoon.

Maybe lousy weather for you Rev people, but good for some just plain fun parafoil flying. It's a good full body workout if you have a big enough kite. If the grass is wet enough you slide just fine. Sure, maybe some hurt pride a couple of times, but overall pretty successful.

Dare I say the "Darkside" is only for the "fair "weather" minded?

Re: Club fly weekend of 4/28-29?
Nope, I don't think you can say that - I was out flying Revs in the middle of winter, in the snow. It was killing me to not be flying today . . . but I ended up taking most of the late morning / early afternoon getting some chores done around the house, and getting ready for the cub scouts this afternoon. Then we had the den meeting . . . then the aftermath of the den meeting. Just got done cleaning up.
90 percent likely I will be going out to fly tomorrow morning for a couple hours - probably 10 - noon or so, if anyone wants to meet up. I have to be home by 1 pm.

Speaking of flying Revs in bad weather...
180GO! has flown in rain many times, also on a frozen lake several times. But here's the club's record holder:

And that's in a t-shirt!

Tell me about it, the wind was looking good yesterday late afternoon. But noooo, I had domestic issues first. I'm logging off, grabbing "adventure dog", loading the car, and going to our airfield.
