Slightly off-topic.
How is the flying at Busse? I've never flown there. Would it be a good place for the IKE retreat? There's lots of hotels in the area.

No flying for me last night... dismal winds. Today looks about the same for my region. But I'm always ready if the Anemoi change their minds.

I'm still looking for something I'd like to use as an avatar, I'll get back to you on that. Next time I see you I'll rack your brain about the website, got a million questions, its my 3rd month on-line at home as opposed to going to the library. Flew all day today, rev 1.5 sle red&blk, prism zephyr. Tried some of the basic tricks with the zephyr at Busse woods. I LIKE THIS KITE! I think I can get good at this dual line stunt flying, but it sure is a lot of work and one hell of a workout. Gonna get something to eat and go back to the woods on the chance that Steve might drop by. Did backwards day with the rev and I'm getting the "hang" if flying inverted, especially after tweaking the harness some more.

See ya soon, I'll probably go to Milwaukee on Sunday. Is anyone else coming?

Oh, by the way, the flying field at Busse woods is really big, maybe 600x200 yards, always mown, with 600x200 yards unmown south of that & connected, no fences, mature trees around the perimeter at least 150 yds to the nearest. Winds are pretty reliable most of the time.

We can do it person, or you can ask here on the forum. Other people may have the same questions.

Well, I >tried< to fly tonight. Wind was blowing while I was pulling the kite out of the trunk. Not a lot, but enough to work on my light wind skills. I then stood there like a fool for 15-20 minutes as Mother Nature laughed at me like an older sister that took the batteries out of my favorite stomper truck. Then I swear, as soon as I gave up and was winding my lines back up the breeze returned. I knew better than to reach for the tease. You win this time, Nature.

5/5 days this week - Busse Woods again for a bit (longer than I should have). Flew RWB 1.5 SUL on 120s with Mark on his full sail 1.5 until the wind picked up . . . and then I should have left so I would not be in the doghouse . . . but Mark said "try my kite and see if it's flying OK" and I said "OK, but you do realize I don't know how to judge different revs as I'm really not that good" and he said "just a few minutes" or something like that so . . . I flew his kite for about another 20 minutes in 10mph or so, reasonably nice winds. I think his kite is pretty dialed in now - spins, hover, slides, and even some reverse flight was working pretty well. At least until my wife called. Luckily, it was when I was getting in the car, so I could say "I"m on my way, no really . . . "

I hope to fly tomorrow, but it's a busy day so I may have to skip a day. Not to mention the 106 degree heat index. I also probably won't be posting for a few days . . . so I'm going to get next week's thread started early.

Edited - here's the thread for next week.

The winds were light and swirly and it was hot so I wimped out and didn't fly yesterday. Maybe today will be better?

Flew at Turner Park in Roselle. The park is surrounded by mature trees and houses which helped cut down the strong winds a bit. Tweaked the bridle on the blk/red rev 1.5 sle & got it pretty much in tune. Flew and made bridle adjustments on a couple of home-made quad lines, and a New Tech Skycool which I converted to quad line. Had to stop at noon to be at work at 1:00 pm. Going out to fly some more now. That makes me 6/7 this week.

And . . . 7/7 for me this week :-D . Flew for about 20 minutes last evening on a soccer field. By the time I got out, the winds were light & variable (at least where I was flying. Flew the RWB 1.5 SUL on Mikey's 40s. Fun - I got one catch, and a bunch of throws . . . . after trying to axel. One of these days, I'll figure out the hand motions on that one. Flew some this morning as well  , and on my way out to fly again now :-D (not local).

It's not really that windy. I think an owl farted on their wind gauge.
It is really that hot at 9pm though.

Had a great flight this evening that I blabbed about already over here:
Dunes Quick Fly
I think that's only 3/7 for me. My Friday winds were too weak again.

Flew Saturday at Turner Park in Roselle, blk/red 1.5 sle and a semi-homemade. Winds were sw at about 5, squirrely as usual at that location. Don't why I keep going back there, except that its close to home. That makes me 6/7 for the week.

No flying this week ... too hot and humid. Spent the time in the basement making a new "thing" ... now I need some wind to get pictures. No wind this morning either ... the trees in the backyard look like a still life picture.

Cheers,
Tom
