Kankakee Quick Fly - June 18?

Postby catspaw00 » Tue, Jun 14 2011, 09:21 AM

Hi all,

Looks like Saturday is going to be a great day for Jeeping with the top down. I was thinking about heading south. Anybody want to meet up and fly in Kankakee?

Good chance that I'll make it too. I'll know for sure in a day or so.

Possible but doubtful . . . wife is working, and David has soccer at 3 pm. We're about an hour and a half (or maybe a bit more) from Kankakee, so I'd have to leave by about 1 pm or so . . . what time were you thinking of flying?

If the weather is fair, I'll probably be on the road early, and not head back until the sun starts setting. If the top has to go back up, then I'll probably head back earlier, but in that case it would be raining and whatnot, so flying wouldn't be as fun (or as safe?), so....

:clubfly:

Yeah, I am choosing to be optimistic. I'm thinking I'll be down that way by mid-morning and there until early evening (7:00-ish).

We will be good for the day. We have a Graduation party that starts at 4pm, but we can be late a bit and it wouldn't matter.

What do you guys think about the new weather report? :(

I'm still planning on it, but if radar shows thunderstorms, I will most likely not drive all the way down.

I haven't looked at the weather yet. I say we look at the hourly report Friday evening. It's a long drive for me too.

As an aside, everyone was telling us that it was going to rain last Sunday at the ND festival. It sprinkled a bit before 10am and that was it. We had good wind and no rain the rest of the day.

The chance is low for the time we will be flying. 25% for 9am to 4pm. I will report from the field.

Yeah, the forecast looks as good as it gets for the Midwest. If we cancelled for every forecast of some rain we'd never fly. Thunderstorms are the best, they last 20 minutes and we're done.
The wind forecast looks good for the day, so I'll be there for sure. If the forecast is totally off and it rains a bunch we'll play cards or go see a movie :)

See ya tomorrow!

A beautiful (if a little warm) day at Limestone Park. Thanks for everyone who made it out for being such fun to fly with! :-D :revspin:

Fun fly! (yes, very warm for me. . . and sometimes a bit iffy wind, but otherwise good). David had fun winning his first Rok battle! (Mike - thanks for bringing those out today). Plus it was fun for me to put the (new to me, anyway) giant Delta up today. Look forward to flying with everyone at the next club fly.
