I'll be there, unless the weather is bad. :revspin:

Possible . . . depending on work. I have a big client project nearing completion that week and I expect my workload to peak that week and the following week. I've already cancelled the family spring break trip due to work scheduled that week, so we'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll need to get out and fly kites for a few hours just to reset.

We will be in Peurto Rico. Shari's brother is getting married there. Would be available the following weekend if you don't get enough people interested.

4/9 would be better for me. I have to work the next two weekends, so I can't make it down Kankakee way until the 9th.

Bringing the kites, I assume? Just call the club fly for further south . . . .

Mikey, I didn't remember when you'd be in Puerto Rico and this fly is right in your backyard.
We could move it to the next weekend, but that's the same weekend as Airwaves and 180GO! will be there.

So, a couple options:
1. Have it on the 9th when more people can go.
2. Road trip to the Airwaves festival in Ohio.

More on Airwaves:
It's a pretty big festival. There's a demo field where the Milwaukee fliers perform (Chicago Fire, etc), there's a dedicated 180GO! field where we'll be flying (we also fly in the demo field).
There's usually a little room for a couple others to fly in the 180GO field, but I can't guarantee it. That's OK though, because outside of those fields, there's tons of space for big kites and sport kites and there's even a field just for AKA members to fly in.

Comments? Questions?

What about option 3 - moving it up a week to the 26th? I may not be able to do anything this weekend either due to work . . . won't know until Friday night.

I would say have it on the original date, We would just have to miss it.

Or I have another option.
We can turn the Monee festival into a club fly. It looks to be a big field, and it is only 20 miles north of Kankakee. I am planing on going anyhow. Might be fun to get a big turnout for the small fest. I don't think we will be able to afford the trip to Airwaves. Although I won't write it off yet.

We are definitely planning on bringing kites to PR. As matter of fact, my only plans for the trip are the wedding stuff and flying. The resort we will be at sits on a piece of land that is surrounded by beaches on three sides. I even made a couple shorter line sets (2-40', and 2-80') just in case space is limited. Shari called the resort to make sure we could fly on the beach there and the lady thought it was an odd question. She said we could, but I don't think she has ever had anyone ask that before.

I can't this weekend, so...
I like option Two-- let's saturate Monee. See if we can outnumber spectators :)
Bring Roks if you have them, we'll have rok battles. I have a few that I'll bring.

How's that sound?

This coming Saturday looks to be terrible, weather wise; so i'm all for cancelling that.

Monee is nice; but it's not a big field by any means. Actually, it's quite a small flying area, if any substantial number of folks show up.

We were planning on being at the Monee Fest. If it changes will keep a look out for a different club fly date. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

How does it compare to the field size at the Governer's State fest?

It's considerably smaller. From what i remember, Governor's State had plenty of room where we were. Monee is small, but if a lot of the public do not fly, it might be OK. If a fair number of the public shows up to fly... it's going to be crowded. Monee is a very cool, picturesque spot and would be perfect for a kite fly. 8) But a lot of other folks = sardinesville. :duel

It did look terrible when you posted, but I think the weather went south of us. . . . In DuPage it was cold, but it was also sunny & windy enough for my vented for an hour and a bit on both Saturday & Sunday. I hope future weekends will be sunny, windy, and warmer!

So what's the verdict? It sounds like the 2nd / Kankakee is out as Mikey & Shari are out of town (and it's their home field). The 9th - 180Go is at Airwaves so . . . is the club fly firm for Monee on the 16th? You know, if the weather is bad on the 16th, there's also Wheaton on the 17th ;-)

Since I'm planning to take the cub scout den to the Wheaton fest, I'll probably have to miss Monee (unless the weather looks awful for the 17th).

I'd like to go to Monee because it was very nice... picturesque and all. They also have paddle-boats there that you can rent if you get sick of flying kites.

There didn't seem to be enough interest for this weekend, so it'll be Monee.
