Kites And 4th Of July Celebration?

Postby Mux11 » Wed, Mar 03 2010, 01:38 PM

I have been asked to think of ideas for adding family activities to the fourth of July celebration here in the Quad Cities. Of course my ideas all have to do with kites. One particular they are looking to do is to connect both sides of the river in some way. They already launch the fireworks from a barge in the middle of the Mississippi river.
I was thinking perhaps a Giant bow kite could be stretched across and flown! now that would be cool!

Do you have any suggestions? Comments?? ideas?

Thanks!
James

Candy drop from the opposite side of the river??

Stitch together a panorama picture from KAP rigs on both sides of the river. Good way to get crowd shots.

At Niagara they used a large kite to carry a bow across the river. It depends on the wind direction...

oooo candy drop from the other side..... great idea - wind direction could be the bear

The bow, I bet is great to see! I wonder what the distance is and how it would compare?

My friend that was helping me with the QC fest had talked about putting the giant kites on barges across the water...... i wonder what the cost on that would be? never mind the insurance :)
