Nov 1st, Club Fly

Postby Mike » Mon, Oct 26 2009, 01:51 PM

Who wants to meet up to fly this Sunday, Nov 1st?

We'll see who's available and then we'll pick a place.
I'm leaning towards Pontiac, since the last couple fests/flies were in Chicago.

I'm done flying for the rest of this year. We have a lot of scheduling/babysitrting issues and Jenny's dad and my mom are both experiencing cancer related issues.

Fortunately, my sister is helping out with my mom. Unfortunately, Jenny and I seem to be the only ones who want to deal with her dad and he is living with us for the time being.

You guys have fun at the club fly..

I'm sorry to hear about that, Chris. You have to take care of those who need you, though.

No flying for me this weekend. Maybe down the line I'll have a chance. Black Friday?
Keep calm, and park it in the pocket

IKE is on Image too!

Chris B, Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Chris and I are available Nov 1. Is Pontiac as good a field as Limestone Park? We are open to either.

Pontiac is actually nicer, Very large. Only downside, close to 500 or so crazed inmates. Although there is alot of fences between us and them.

Random thoughts:
The only downside at Pontiac is lack of easy access to bathrooms. Plan accordingly!
I'm looking forward to flying a kite with y'all. It's been too long.
Big Mike, can ya bring the team kites?

I'll be out there around 9am.

Chris and I have talked--he's hanging in there and sounds OK, all things considered.

Shawn, too bad you missed INTERNATIONAL ALL CAPS DAY (every October 22).
But seriously, that's really good news about your job. Congrats.
I hope to see you this weekend.

The forecast looks good for Sunday:

Top to bottom on the chart:
Not freezing cold. Maybe too warm for Big Mike :-D
South winds around 8.
No worries about rain.

The forecast for Sunday was right on the mark. Not too cold, lots of sunshine and winds very steady at 5 to 10 mph. For several of us it was the first time in the air for a month or so ... felt very good!!! Zack was the only one who was disappointed with the winds ... he made about three trips across the field with a power kite and the buggy. There wasn't enough wind for him to tack back, so he'd drag the kite and buggy back to the near side and then try again. The process seemed a lot like ridding a sled down the hill and then dragging it back to the top. So, he gave up and went to using his roller blades.

Mark brought his self-designed quad foil to try out. John B. did some team flying. We (I) told him that if he kept practicing, he'd be as good as Loren pretty soon, luckily Rev handles are light weigh and don't hurt too much.

Big Mike had some of his new powder coated handles to show off. They look very good.

All-in-all, if you weren't there, you missed a good day of flying and companionship.

Cheers,
Tom

If was a great day yesterday with the best winds we get in the Midwest.
Followed by a good dinner--good choice of restaurant, Tom.

There is, but I think Paul has to do it.
Facebook photos are of very low quality besides being unavailable to several of the people in the photos.
Maybe Paul could pick out some of the better ones and post them to Flickr?
Thanks Paul....
