Sorry ~ Prior commitments... not to mention 150 miles... Hope to see the gang before the snow hits!
Shut my mouth and shame on me!

I might chicken out because of the heat. I was getting too hot at the last Kankakee event, and this one looks to be warmer still.

Or else I'm going to need to get an extra large human sized cooler to retreat into at regular intervals.

Wendy and I have decided to cancel this fly.
We'll try again in nicer weather.

As much as I was looking forward to this, I'd rather fly closer to home in this kind of weather. So I'm going to stay up here this weekend and fly closer to my air conditioned apartment...

I feel kind of like a weasel for backing out after being the one to propose this, but there you go.

Next good weekend, though...

There's no reason to feel weasley. The combination of the weather, low turnout, and long drive made this a reasonable thing to do.
You can make the same drive next week to the Perry Farms festival if you want.
There's not a lot of room to fly, but it's manageable. You can also watch the competitions on Saturday and there may be demos on Sunday.

Thanks, Mike. I got over it. *grin*

Took the new Rev out for her maiden flight, and was grateful for the vented - winds were gustier than all get-out, and kept me hoppin'. Of course, the next couple of days look more like standard-sail days, but still. Oh, and I have DEFINITELY got to get a stake; the high, gusting winds made stakelessness veeeeeerrrrrrryyyyyy interesting.

Hope everybody else got a chance to get out there and fly.

Until you get a "proper" stake, just take a screwdriver with you.

I didn't fly this weekend, but I did go to watch the Fire. Man, the winds were bizarre. Mostly heavy, but swirling like crazy around the giant trees directly behind the field. It was not an easy day for them.
Keep calm, and park it in the pocket

IKE is on Image too!

Thanks, Jeff. I totally spaced on that - I have a lot of extra screwdrivers.

The winds were really bizarre out at Vernon Hills yesterday morning, too. I hadn't thought of it, but the word "swirling" definitely describes it. Made for a very educational few hours. :-)
