Hmmmm ... I was wondering if Chris had an anniversary coming up with a second or third family ... after all, he's been a little busy lately.

Congrats to all who have their anniversary this month.

Cheers,
Tom

I'll be at this one, too! Yay!

Probably could afford to buy a kite on what I'm paying for gas though...

If anybody needs help with directions or local knowledge let me know. The field is easy to reach from I57 and I55. unless you are coming from pretty far west 57 is better. If anyone is coming down 55 there is a couple short cuts so you don't have to come through dwight.

Weather is looking good for Saturday. A chance of .10" of rain, but winds in the teens, temps in the 70's.

Yes, the weather is looking good, but then again, you know mid-west weather.

I'm planning on being there ... so are Jamie and Hunter.

Cheers,
Tom

I'm still at work... and it's, what, after 11:00. *sigh* I will be late-ish. I was hoping to be down there for breakfast, but I'm thinking sleep is a good idea before such a long drive.

See you guys in the afternoon!

Have a safe drive Wendy.
The forecast has improved: no rain, more sunshine and more wind. Should be a great day!

Well, Saturday was very much a successful club get together. I've never seen so much wind in the Kankakee area ... we flew until almost dark. The park is really great for club events. Thanks for pointing it out Mike (medium Mike??) We had over 16 kite fliers there for most of the day ... more poly in the air than I've seen at a some festivals.

I had a great day flying the new half-pint progressive stack and Mike Kory's Rev progressive. The half-pint progressive has a little less total sail area than a standard Rev 1.5, so it doesn't pull you around as much as the standard progressive in winds like we had Saturday. Once I get a stronger leading edge rod for the first kite, we'll stack my first two kites with Mike's three and see how a five kite progressive handles ... oh yes, also with a little less wind.

Loren did great on the Rev ... looks like dad will end up in the poor house before this is all over with ... three of everything.

Big Mike made Hunter's day ... he gave him a Beetle dual line kite. For most of the morning all you saw was a very small kid running around with a kite bag in his hands. It'll be three more weeks until his arm is healed enough that he can fly it, but he still had the biggest "isn't this great" grin on his face. Thanks Mike!

Cheers,
Tom

Saturday was a great day. I am glad Hunter and I could make it up. I had more fun at this fly than the majority of the festivals I have been to (not saying much i have only been to three festivals). As usual everyone was super nice, truly a family.

Mike S. made Hunter's day. Not only did he spend Saturday showing off his new kite, but he spent a good part of Sunday telling people all about it. "A real kite flyer gave me HIS kite!!" Mike S. also made my day letting his 5 meter have a go at me. At the end I think it was a draw as to who won. I walked away and it got stuffed in a bag.

I got to see a second Black Rainbow, so all we need to do is get Jynx down for a club fly so we could get three in the air. I also got see a "Thank You Book" to Paul from a school he put on a kite art show at. It was neat to see all the pictures the kids gave him and their kind words. I can only imagine the positive impact Paul had on all the kids that saw the display, for kids to actually get to "touch" the art probably left a permanent impact on their lives. It made art real to them instead of something boring that they can only look at from 5 feet away.

All in all a great way to spend the day, I look forward to the next club fly, that park was great!

It was great seeing everyone yesterday! The day was great; it sure was a lot of fun! I did get a little burned, but got a good work-out to make up for it! We sure have been lucky with regard to temperatures, lately! :mrblue:

This was the most fun I've had in years - thanks to all you guys for the generosity, both with the kites and the advice. I can't wait to fly my very own Rev!!

-Wendy

:thanks:
