I think this must be the location.

"The Glen" is located at 2500 Chestnut Avenue

Info and Map here.

Yes, that's it. It's on the map (as linked at the top of the page) and there is a marker there for both the festival and a general flying location.

There are parking areas to the south end by the school, and the north end. I'm inclined to park to the south because then it's a closer walk to the Potbelly Sandwich Works across the street. :-)

The area across the street to the west has a bunch of food places.

Is that a hedge maze I see from satellite?

Well this is a coincidence. I was just up in that neck of the woods last Sunday, just a bit more to the North. Actually I only barely escaped.. there was some sort of an incident on 294 when I was driving out, the Southbound side was reduced to a crawl and the Northbound side was completely stopped for a burning car.

I'll take my chances, I'll be there. Actually I had my kite with me last Sunday as well. The wind forecast looked good, but the reality was that it was too variable, it kept going still.

Yup, hedge maze, and a nice kid's play area.

Unless the winds are bad, Chris and I will be there earlier, at 9 am.

That way I can fly for a few hours, go to my meeting and come back and fly some more.

Since it's moved further north, it's become close to a 6 hour round trip drive. I probably wont make it.

Long drive for you, for sure! How about that IKE Leer? Unavailable?

Will certainly miss you and Rose!!!!!!

Still hoping that all goes well with weather, and all, and I can make this one. :clubfly: I'm planning on it!

I'm heading out. Hoping for some wind. It's pretty calm by my house.

Nice time at the Glenview club fly today. Winds started off light to non-existent. Kind of came and went. Changed directions and picked up a little later in the afternoon. We had 2 power kites, 4 duals, a single line and 4 quads going today. A couple new faces joined us today too...welcome, Dan and Ted!

Isaac showed us his KAP rig.

I want!

This was a blast! We need to schedule another northern club fly, maybe in August?

There was a strange orange substance on the grass - a little irritating, considering my shoes were new. *grin* I think retrieving my broken down old trainers from the gloomy depths of my closet for wearing out in fields kite flying is definitely in order. ;)

It was fun flying my power kite around, but I have to say, after flying a Rev, it seems a little... well... unsophisticated. It's not very responsive. I did do a lot better with the controlling, though - I think learning how the Rev works translated over (but I have GOT TO STOP CONTROLLING WITH MY ARMS *sigh*).

Kathy was awesome - she showed me some tips on flying vertical which I was having a hard time understanding. Thanks, Kathy!

We also discovered that "Brick House" by Rick James will summon the wind. Good to know.

Can't wait to do it again. :clubfly:
