I'll look into a part-time job to fund gasoline!
How about a Northern Illinois

Wishful thinking!

I know, I thought about you Jynx.
We're working our way up north. The next club fly will be in Chicago.
We've met at Northerly Island several times, but it works best in the winter when they're not having concerts.
Either that or you,Jeff, Isaac and a couple other Northern Illinois folks can organize another club fly.
Start a new thread and pick a place and date. Maybe July 18th or 19th? Where's a good location? Jeff? Any ideas?

Count me in!
Re: Club Fly-- Saturday July 25, 2009
Chris and I will be there plus Lauren!
Re: Club Fly-- Saturday July 25, 2009
Looks like Jo Ann and I are free to attend.
Although, I'll be a little rusty ... literally. It hasn't stopped raining up here for the last 48 hours ... not a down pour just a steady wet, cold drizzle. Maybe Thursday ...
Cheers,
Tom

Jynx--
Almost three hours for 150 miles. You just need a faster car!
Or you could always request the IKE Lear Jet. If I had a bigger place I would offer you a Place to stay.

I have a farmers market in Kenosha that day... but I am willing to host a club fly near the WI/IL boarder and the Lake... the Kenosha event a couple of weeks ago was on a great spot for wind from the NE-E-SE I just have not found a great spot for west winds and more kites... were is that field in Vernon Hills???

Sorry but neither weekend will work for me this time around. The 25th is when the wife and I will be coming back from South Dakota and the 18th is when we are heading out to South Dakota.
Wish I could make it, sounds like a few new faces will be out there this time that I have not had the pleasure of meeting. O-Well maybe next month. Hope you have wind and a great time flying and hangin out.

The Vernon Hills Athletic Complex - it's actually on the IKE maps; note says "Jeff's 'almost' home field". The grass is very nice, rather soft.

Also, I am willing to carpool, if anybody wants to meet up and ride down with me - I have a Jeep Wrangler, though, so short on space, and I like keeping the top down on it (though I have a comprehensive collection of ball caps and bandanas for the hair-conscious). Chipping in on gas would be nice, but not a requirement.

<sigh>
Having a 5 year old and a spouse whose work extends in to weekend time makes it so hard to commit to stuff...
I guess it would depend on who would come. Something right off the highway might encourage more people to come. Easy to find and access.
The field in Vernon Hills is definitely nice, but it is an athletic complex that may or may not have sports going on, I don't know. It's big, so even that may not stop people from flying. I haven't flown there since I worked out in the area right when I first started flying.
Re: Club Fly-- Saturday July 25, 2009
So as not to confuse things too much, could all discussion about the northern club fly please start on a new topic?
thanks.
thanks.

Hmmmm.. I like the IKE Lear Jet idea... I'll have to recalculate from O'hare Field!
Mike ~ Have it pick me up at General Mitchell Field!
