Hi All From The Suburbs

Postby revkidChris » Mon, Apr 06 2009, 10:56 PM

Hi IKE, just wanted to introduce myself to the forums, I've been lurking a little bit, trying to learn about the different kites etc, and figured it was time.

Recently went out to the Glenview Kitefest, saw Dave there, as well as another IKE member who I forgot to catch the name of.

Anywho, Im Chris, 16 years old. Got into Rev flying about...a week ago. doing my best to get out as often as I can.
My dad was the person who originally got me into flying with his dual line kites, which he dusted off on occassion, including an ancient Hawaiian Spin-off, the kite that introduced me to the sport. Thats about it, and, hopefully Ill be getting out to fly at all the nearby kite fests, so keep a look-out for the one teen flyer!

We all regularly try and give Revs up, but you always hear the voices in your head "Just one more fly cant do any harm" or "You can give up next week, next week would be better anyway". You may just stand a chance of getting out of rev flying if you only started a week ago. But wait, I feel the force is strong in this one...

You might as well face it Chris, you're adicted to revs. ;)

Glad the IKE guys roped you in - they are a great bunch of people aren't they.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the forum and welcome to Revs ...

Your profile lists Hinsdale as home ... you might try and hook up with other IKE members who live near you for some imformal flying. Looks like Ken is about 30 miles away. Others might live closer. I can't emphasis enough the importance of having someone help you along the learning curve. Keep watching the forum for club flys ... another great opportunity to learn.

Welcome,
Tom

Welcome, Chris.

If you can get out to Oswego next Saturday, we'll have quite a few members there for the Earth Day Kite Fest.

Click the festival link at the top of the page to see the list of events in the area.
Keep calm, and park it in the pocket

IKE is on Image too!

Hey Chris, glad to see you made it here! You're flying great for only a week  You'll be shoulder to shoulder with the best of them before you know it! Just keep practicing, and we'll see you some time soon :welcome1:
It's a great satisfaction knowing that for a brief point in time you made a difference.

Heya Chris, welcome!
I bet the guy you met is the same guy who posted above this one: another Chris.

As Jeff said, try to get to Oswego (April 18th) if you can. It'd be great to fly with you.
It's not really a kite festival--we treat it almost like a club fly.

Welcome aboard Chris...!!!
I want to congratulate your father. (My dad was the person who originally got me into flying)
I wish there were more parents teaching their children about the beauty of life, and kite flying is one of the best.
I am in California, and from here I wish you lots of hours of kite flying.
May the wind be with you.

:thanks: for the warm welcome guys! You should hopefully see me at Oswego on the 18th, I have an AP Exam study session that morning so I may be a little late, but I will absoutely be there. and Sailor, I think it is safe to say I am addicted. Since Practice is the way to go, i'll be out and about and hopefully get myself some more flying hours! Maybe even work on getting rid of this sunburn I managed to acquire at Glenview..haha, and you all may see my dad with me at the kite fest, so i'll be sure to introduce him.
