Here's the text of the email that was sent:
Good Morning:
A few months ago, I noted on the Budget Travel website a 'coolest small towns in America' headline. The website/magazine was seeking nominations for interesting towns of under 10,000.
So, I nominated Grinnell – citing the city's sense of community, history, architecture, recreational opportunities and the College. They received more than 150 nominations, and culled that list to 22 finalists.
Grinnell is among them! And it's the only place in Iowa among the 22.
Now, we need you to go vote. And we need your friends, family, co-workers, distant relatives, acquaintances, etc, to cast their votes, too.
Go here to vote and say a few nice things about the community!
http://www.budgettravel.com/bt-srv/coolestsmalltowns/
You'll note that the two coasts are heavily represented. We need to ensure some geographic diversity!!
Feel free to forward this far and wide!
Thanks,
Bill Menner Executive Director

I just went to the Budget Travel site and you can't vote right now. You can only vote from 10am-8pm EST.
What? This is the internet, right? Or do they have some old lady taking down the vote as you type it in? :-D

ROFLocopter :rotfl

That is the funniest thing I have seen in a long while. Internet voting only during business hours. Awesome.

Our movie theatre has three whole screens, and there's not a single business open past 9pm...how much cooler could we be?

I dunno, they don't even mention the kite festival:

Grinnell, Iowa
Founded in 1854, Grinnell maintains its historic architecture. The town is filled with residential architectural beauties—most buildings in downtown date back over 100 years. Take a tour of the Grinnell Historical Museum, which holds artifacts of the town's past, such as one of the first 50 electric refrigerators made by the Grinnell Washing Machine Company in 1932. Attend Date Night at the Bourbon Street Restaurant and enjoy an elaborate Cajun meal. The Happy Days Festival in August includes a carnival and a car show.
