Our local country radio station has a stump the audience question each morning. This morning's question was:
Fifty million of what recreational item are sold each year.
After several wrong guesses they reinforced that it was a "recreational item" and then added that most are sold in the spring.
I was trying hard to come up with a logical guess ... golf balls, tennis balls, etc.. Even thought of "tenner shoes" ... if you're old enough, you'll remember that we got a new pair of high top black tenner shoes every spring. I never even gave a thought to kites. But, since this is a kite site, you've probably already guessed that the answer was kites! Darn ...
That's one kite for every six people in the USA. So together, IKE members probably have enough kites for a rural Illinois town. Interesting ...
Cheers,
Tom

Re: Morning Radio Question
Mine are not recreational items.
I consider them therapy.

But, those are not mutually exclusive ... yes?

Re: Morning Radio Question
If that's true, it sounds like a good promotional hook for kite festivals.
"Over 50 millions kites are sold each spring. Come to the festival and see what's new in kites. You'll be amazed!"
Or something like that.

50 million......boy, that's a lot of kites.
I wonder how many get eaten by a tree the first time out?
