Some of the best comedies to come out of Hollywood are the ones that can poke fun at themselves, and Mel Brooks knows exactly how to chew up and spit out the Hollywood machine in the most slapstick of ways. It has inspired approximately a billion quotes and homages in the 30 years since it first hit screens and still hasn't ever been equalled by its many, many imitators.
