I'm Off To The Yukon...

Postby Jeff » Tue, Jul 29 2008, 10:34 AM

Man, it's been a bit crazy lately. Planning for some system coverage testing...in Alaska.

After some stops and starts, we're on, full speed ahead. I leave for Kodiak, Alaska tomorrow. I'll be there for a couple days, and then move on to Cordova for another day or two, then Juneau, and possibly Skagway.

Unfortunately, there won't be much down time, and I'm traveling pretty heavy as it is...or I'd be taking kites with.

Probably will be gone a week.

If anybody will be attending the Chicago Fire performance the following weekend, I'll see you there!

Cool! Have fun.
Maybe you'll get a chance to visit that glacier just outside of Juneau (Mendenhall?)

Jeff........You may want to re-think taking a kite or two. You will be in Skagway for their annual "Wind Festival". Lynn and I drove our dune buggy up to Alaska back in the 80s, and were in Skagway for that event. It runs from January 1st to December 31st.

"Skagway" in their native language means "windy place".

Have a wonderful, safe trip, Jeff! If you decide to fly (and you really ought to)... watch out for those hugging grizzlies!

I wish. But I will be seriously short on time. Pretty much working every waking hour. Besides, I'm all packed, and I have no room anyway. :(

Jeff.....just outside town there is a very large grass field where they fly RC planes.

At least there was such a field 20..................that would be 26 years ago. Any how, it's probably condos by now. Forget it.

Have a good trip.

Greetings from the arctic! I'm sitting in the Anchorage airport waiting for my connection to Kodiak Island. Free Wi-Fi...woo-hoo!

Beautiful...I'm eating my heart out...hoping to Heaven you're doing something that's supporting the arctic.

Save a polar bear for me.

Well, it's 11pm now, and it's kind of a post sunset dusk. Sunset was probably a bit after 10.

"The views from Pillar Mtn are simply amazing."

That picture really is amazing ... if you look closely in the mid-left side, you'll see an excavator working on the road ... sure hope it's a Caterpillar machine!

Thanks for taking us along.
