I think there's something funny going on there. According to the site traffic tracking, here is yesterday's data:

107 Visits
52 Absolute Unique Visitors
882 Pageviews

Perhaps somebody is poking at pages that don't get tracked properly.

Nothing funny going on. The inordinate number of hits looks like it was due to bots coming in and scanning everything in the site for the search engines as far as I can tell. The problem is in how the board reports that information vs what Google analytics is tracking which if it's worth it's salt, would take bot scans into account when it's generating reports.

Quite honestly, I pay no attention to the stats generated by the board as they can be very misleading. The tracking being done by google is a little more realistic.

Personally, the real success of the club is better measured by the dedication of it's members and the number of members we actually get out to club flies and festivals. It's easy to get carried away by the statistics but numbers here don't seem to equal bodies on the field flying. To me, that means we still need to work hard on things other than just the internet presence.

My 2 cents.

That's what I mean by "funny." Something other than actual users that's not being represented as such. We clearly aren't getting that much human traffic.

I always thought those numbers were a bit exaggerated.

That is why I always looked at the post count!

Hi Steve!
Even better, do a google for search for
illinois kite
and we are on top!

We are also on top for Illinois Kites (plural), but a sponsored link appears above ours.
Anyone heard of Al's Hobby Shop? He seems to only stock some low-end stuff.

Al's is in my hometown where I grew up...Elmhurst. I was in there a few times as a youth. I remember it more as a place for comic books and models and trains and planes.

Al's hobby shop does mostly models, and all sorts of RC planes, cars, and helicopters. They also sell rocket related items (some rather large stuff  ) They were also featured on the Discovery Channel's Rocket Challenge a couple of years ago. Lot's of cool stuff....not much in the way of kites though.

I know all about Al's too. Back in the day when I flew helicopters, I could go in spend a couple hundred dollars and leave with only a little brown lunch bag of stuff.
