Here are a few tips for beginners...
Performing dual-line tricks is very challenging and is an excellent way to exercise at the same time! i also like to do precision flying, but find that doing tricks is a lot more challenging, interesting, and rewarding. Learning the many tricks can seem intimidating and seem to be extremely difficult, but if one goes one step at a time and practices without demanding too much at once, one can progress remarkably. Just go at your own pace!
Since there are no expert dual-line kite trick people in my immediate area, in the past i have relied heavily on two very excellent instructional DVDs. One is entitled "Flight School" and is put together by Dodd Gross, who is an instructional trick-educator par excellence. Another very good educational DVD is called FreeStyle pilot; it is put out by Prism kites... and features a lot of flying by Mark Reed and his friends.
Another excellent DVD that has tons of superb freestyle flying in excellent, exotic environments is entitled "Trick or Treat". It is put out by Benson kites... and it features expert, breathtaking flying by Tim Benson, Andy Wardley, Lars Fakkeldij, and Jason Winter! It also has an educational section regarding some of the more popular tricks. The long movie sequence in this DVD, with the stunning flying in stunning locations, with topnotch music... is just phenomenal! It's great for rainy days!
Also i attend the Indiana Trick Clinic in Muncie, Indiana... which occurs each Labor Day weekend.

Thanks Tom,
You forgot one other method-- are you going to teach me? I may learn a dual-line trick yet.

Helping each other when we're out in the fields together is a given!... It's probably the best way to learn! i'd be delighted to help anyone while flying; just ask!
My only stipulation is that, if anyone wants to learn the "Scooping the Goose Treasures" trick... if there aren't any Goose treasures in that particular flying field... you'll have to supply your own!

At least your kites are small enough to avoid the majority of the Sky Pig deposits.
I have had to deal with deer pellets, goose droppings, seagull S***, tiny cacti and small lizards. I did not think the lizards were a problem until a week after I got back from Kitty Hawk, NC and found one had crawled into to a compression sack, pre compression. Those sacks crunch down really hard

Well at least you won't have to worry about any Trilobites crawling into the big Trilobite kite... they've been extinct for millions of years!

I have had to deal with ~~ seagull S***, ~~
Quad'ers get the added benefit of CHASING the gulls... The silly birds love to come investigate making them much fun to sky-dance with. And if you're real patient and keep the Rev real still they even try to perch on it.
