The Macomb Sky Climbers Kite Club, in partnership with the Macomb Park District, is putting on a kite festival this September 11-13, 2015, in cooperation with the Macomb Balloon Rally. It will be held in Veteran's Park, on East University Drive.

Our festival will have many activities for all ages and ability levels. We are setting up the planning structure to make this an annual event.

We hope to see many kite enthusiasts to help us put on a great show. Please let me know if you have any questions.

If you are a member of the IKE and going to be at the Macomb Kite Festival, please let me know. Email is kites@skyclimbers.org

If you can send me a pic and your name, a brief bio, and any contact info, I'll be happy to list you on the website as one of our IKE special guests. You can also give me the links to your local kite club and I'll give them a shout out.

Thank you to all who came to our first ever festival. I can't wait until next year!

The giant dirt mound that was really unhelpful for our show kite fliers will be taken down as they put up baseball fields in it's place. The fences of the fields will have the corrugated plastic covers. I haven't gotten the schematics of the new design yet but I'll post them when I do.

The trees to the west of the soccer fields are hopefully going to be removed or at least significantly thinned to improve the flying conditions when the wind is out of the west.

There's nothing like holding a kite festival to help community decision makers take flying space into account with facility planning.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to next year.

How is our young rev flyer doing? Have you seen her again? BTW, there is a video on YouTube for line management..... How to wind and unwind lines for revs....

She's doing great! She knows how to manage her lines now. They actually got tangled because she let her friend try her kite out and forgot to show her how to manage the lines.

I'm embarrassed that I can't help her with her Rev so I'm buying one myself. But it looks like she's going to be the teacher already. ;)

We're still looking to get that story written. NPR had a really nice piece yesterday morning about Tony & Tom and their love of kites. But alas, it was done by the student reporter so it's not available on the website. I'm going to see if I can get a copy though.

Ameren Illinois is building a huge facility to the Southwest of the park. We are looking at using that for possible parking so we have more field space on the east side. ****crossing fingers****
