Shipshewana, Indiana April 27, 2013

Postby KiteVoice » Thu, Dec 13 2012, 02:02 PM

Just got confirmation on this. From the HKS website:

Good news, everyone!

We just received word that Kite Komotion will happen on April 27, 2013!! Things were looking a bit iffy for awhile but confirmation was sent out yesterday. The times are 11am - 3pm. I'm currently assuming the same location (behind Hostetler's Hudson Museum), 760 S. Van Buren St.

The HKS calendar has been updated and if I hear anything different, I will forward along as soon as possible.

From me:

I've been announcer at this event since it started two years ago. It's a fun event. For the past two years, performers have included WindJammers, Fire and Ice, Blues Brothers, Dave "Mr. Incredible" Bush, Elizabeth Gordon and many others. Easy access from the Indiana Toll Road. Would be cool to see some IKE-ers there!

Sounds like fun! I have absolutely no idea yet if I can make it, but it looks like you get a pretty good crew there. I'm going to have to get cranking one of these days on updating the 2013 IKE calendar . . . I am certainly late getting going on it this year.

Bummer. Would love to have 180Go at this event, if the sponsorship $ are ever available.

Click the Calendar link (above in the menu bar) and you can see scheduled events.

Here's a shortcut for you as well.

I think it is at the library, but we should ask Mike to confirm (and/or start a new thread). Here's a link to a picture I found that I think might be the field. There's a lot of prairie south of the trees in the park, but it's not mowed.

It's not going to be at the library, but they've changed their minds a couple times. When the details get firmed up, I'll start a new thread.

Just a bump to remind you guys about the upcoming Shipshewana event. I know 180 Go! is in Iowa but maybe some of you other IKE-ers can drop by. I'm hearing that we're expecting a good turn-out of flyers. Fire and Ice will definitely be there and I've heard a fairly large contingent from Wisconsin Kiters plan to show up. I think Windjammers are on the program and we usually also have Blue Brothers and Dave Bush with his Thor's Hammer. The lovely and talented Elizabeth Gordon might grace us with her presence, as well. Yours truly will be the festival announcer (hence the user name!)

Is there a group president or someone I could talk to as an expert source?
