I KNOW--the forum has changed!

Postby Mike » Fri, Sep 18 2015, 12:42 PM

Yes, the forum is a bit weird looking.
I had to update the forum software and move it to a new server.

It will take me a while to get back what we had before because I did a lot of hand work to the old version.
Maybe not all of it will come back.
Certainly it will get more red :)

Post here what you're missing from the old forum and I'll see what I can do to put it back in.

(I'll be at the retreat this weekend, so changes won't come until next week)

Thanks for all the work, Mike. When you're finished, it would be nice to have mobile app support again, if possible.
I decided I needed a signature line, so I wrote this.

Do you mean the Forum Runner app?

Sure, unless you software change requires you to switch to a different app (e,g. Tapatalk).

This does render very nicely in my mobile browser, however.

FYI, Mike RSS is working fine. I use RSS to see posts in Outlook (which I'm always in during the work day).

Thank you very much for the feedback.
I'm glad the RSS is still working.

It seems Forum Runner isn't yet supporting this version, so we may switch to Tapatalk.

There was an "Unread" button before. Will that be back again? I may be blind or just haven't found it yet. I did "mark all as read". Perhaps it will pop up when someone posts anew.

There's a "new posts" link under the "Quick Links" button at the top left. I'm not certain of its functionality, though. It MIGHT show you every post that's new since your last visit. Guess that's not quite the same as "unread."

Ah, yes., and there is also an "Unread Posts" link there. Thank you.

Tapatalk is up and running for our forum.
I did a quick test on iOS and it seems to work.

Yeah, it's hidden in a menu that developers call a "hamburger". I personally don't care for them, so it may go away eventually.

Here's what I do:
When I log in, I click on the checkbox for "remember me".
I bookmark:
When I open that bookmark, it will go directly to unread posts.

Thanks for all your hard work on the forum. I don't mind hamburgers, once you know to look there. I think Rose will need a veggie burger though . . . .

Yeah looking real sharp now.

BTW, the photo posting procedure seems much improved.

Has the max photo file size increased? I really dislike resizing photos before I can post as an attachment.
