Re: Kite Retreat 2014, Sept 27-28
What time are people going to be out on the beach Saturday morning?
Re: Kite Retreat 2014, Sept 27-28
It's a long drive for me, so I'm guessing late morning.
Re: Kite Retreat 2014, Sept 27-28
Between 9 am and 10, I reckon for me. Central Daylight Time is in that area, I believe.
Forecast winds still on the light side.

Depends on when I pry myself out of bed. It's about a 2.5-hour drive for me (finally, a reasonable amount of driving for a kite event!). I'll probably shoot for a 9 a.m. CDT arrival.
I decided I needed a signature line, so I wrote this.

Rose....
Still need to figure that out.
Still need to figure that out.
Everything seems so much better when the sky is filled with beautiful colors.

As soon as the wind switched off the lake, late morning, we had really good winds for the rest of the day--smooth and consistent. Ignore the forecast! Come and play!

Bill gets my vote for official IKE/180GO! photographer. Just has a great sense of composition.
REALLY AWESOME PICS, BILL!

Re: Kite Retreat 2014, Sept 27-28
Thanks Mark. But the goal is to get good enough flying to hang in the Rev line with you guys. Maybe less time for photos.
I had a great time BTW. It was nice to meet everyone.

He's not a hater, he's a lover. His kite just is highly attracted to the other kites!
BTW, I know you are kidding - but this is why we get together - to give everyone an opportunity to get to fly together. Being so spread out, it's a challenge to learn to fly as a group, and about the only way you can learn is to get on the field with a bunch of other flyers. Then you realize (as I do pretty much every time I fly with others) that there are always things you need to work on to get better. For instance, Jynx was nice to "remind" me that I'm supposed to stop messing around when I'm on the line . . . .
I know I had a great time seeing everyone, and wish we could do it more often.

It's a tough weekend for me, but I already cleared at least one day for next years retreat. Maybe I take off Friday and go early. Probably should start a new thread for it.
