This weekend - 4/16 or 17.

I'm probably not going to be able to do anything (at least not Saturday before 3 pm), but here goes anyway . . . .

Weather's looking great this weekend. Who is going to be flying? And where?

I'm willing. But might be tough to fit in. First really nice weekend weather so all kinds of chores and such.
(I might be able to do Saturday after 3 for a couple of hours.)

And I see you posted over at FB, too. Where is everybody?!

Indeed, where is everybody?
Maybe we should change the name of the club to SBKE: Steve and Bill, Kite Enthusiasts

I'm trying to keep things going . . .

Yeah, unfortunately, I think the lack of activity is a self fulfilling spiral. A lot of things moved to Facebook. I still use other forums for technical topics because you get input from people who are on the boards but not your fb friends. It just seems like there are not enough kite flyers and the active ones can get tons of kite related stuff off fb pages, so they post less here.

I still like the forum because you can post here without letting your entire friend list know what you are doing....

I'm probably busy this weekend? But I'll keep an eye on things if you set a place in case I find time.

Made and flew kites with my class today for the last day before Spring Break, they had a blast :)

Alrighty... I can do either afternoon. Saturday locally. Could probably travel a bit on Sunday if needed.

I'm booked this weekend, and the following 2 weekends are 180GO things. But after that maybe we can work out a club fly in Pontiac.

Duh me! Of course - what Mike said!

For tomorrow, I have a shot for later in the day, but I may need to pick up something from David's soccer coach at 4:30. Sunday I might have some more time available.

Wheaton Kite Festival is 5/7 . . . . . just saying . . . . although it has no separate field for club flying. Lots of kids running around. But we can see Fire & Ice there (and other friends).
Champaign Mother's Day fly is 5/8, but that's too far for me (on Mother's Day).

Then 180Go! has Fair Oaks the following weekend. Then maybe Pontiac? Like 5/21 or 22? That's also the GLKF weekend, so some people might be going there . . . .

Rose and Bill - do you think you will have time to fly? I think I could get away for a bit this afternoon - maybe to Busse as a spot roughly between all three of us?

Let's see if Rose can fly. If not, then maybe somewhere between us.

Sounds like a plan.

I'm probably going to run over to STC East Side park at about 2 pm. Maybe for about an hour. Longer if anyone else shows.
Wind coming up a bit but still about 6 mph.

In the thermal gusts the wind went up to about 8 mph. Otherwise it was light and variable. Good day for that slow backwards walk then floating forward to gain ground. This is my lightest wind kite. With a set of diamond rods in it. Flew it on 80 foot lines.

And that's my new Honda HR-V gleaming behind the Spiro Rev.

(Just talked to Xay. He and I are are tentatively planning a Memorial day kite fly. Last year we did it at the park by his house in Elgin.)

Still a good looking kite.
Glad that Xay hasn't disappeared. Have either of you been able to make contact with Mark?

Yes, I asked Xay to call him. He did and reported, "he's good."
