Local Club Fly Sat 4/19?

Postby goestoeleven » Fri, Apr 18 2014, 11:32 AM

So . . . my wife is working tomorrow from 8 - 3 pm. Any interest in flying for a couple hours (local)? I'm pretty sure as long as I'm home (and look like I'm raking leaves out of the garden beds) by 3 or so, I should be OK to go out for a while . . . .

Adventure dog & I are more than 50% positive as we were planning on sneaking out in the morning anyway. What are we looking like wind wise anyways?

10-15 South or Southeast, so looking pretty good. Peaking mid/late afternoon (after I should be back home).

. . . . BTW, the wind forecasts are always wrong ;-)

Well at least there will be some wind. good enough for full sail. Windalert is forecasting 9-11 mph between 10a-4p. I think I'm in. Wife and a couple of kids are out tonight anyway so I can get some more done. Place?

I will look at the satellite maps tonight. I may need to run my car over to a mechanic in the morning, so I might look for a field within walking distance - in case they need to keep the car (although I think they will tell me to come back when they can get the parts).

I'm thinking something like 1-3 pm, perhaps the sports fields in St. Charles. The field we went to last week is not ideal when the wind is from the east, which I think it might be right now. If it makes a difference to you Swannie and Tmadz, I could probably come out to Sugar Grove this week.

That's the place we met Xay at right? I'm probably in, just might be a bit late... need to wait for the wife to come home.

My schedule is shifting so I'm going to pass today. I may just fly at the park across the street.

Running a little bit late . . . more leaves in the gardens than expected (and a distinct lack of help from the boy, who is now banned from Minecraft pending a hearing with the judge). I will probably get to the field about 1:15 - 1:30. Since the leaves are done, I may be able to stay a bit later . . . .

I can't believe you got that eddy kite up so high! It looks so tiny at the end of the line!
