Well, i'm in CT now but am returning on Saturday and could use a good kite fix! Is anyone up for Indiana Dunes on Sunday the 28th?

I'll fly something... Somewhere... and it'd be great to meet up with some other people.

Hopefully Mother Nature works in our favor!

Jim

Doubt I'll make it. After traveling to kite vents three weekends in June, I promised the lovely wife we'd go to open houses every Sunday in July. After that, it would be well past 5 p.m. by the time I could get to Indiana Dunes State Park.

Very unlikely for me, although it sounds great. I'm probably going to be out of town helping my dad with a few things this weekend.

Ok, wind predictions on most sights are predicted to be NW at 12 for Sunday. That should give us a great steady wind off the lake for flying and turbulence off the dunes should not be a factor. I am going early and staying all day. Anyone else going for sure? Where on the beach do you fly from? If I get there before anyone else, look for a custom Yellow and White Reprise, that will be me. Hope to see you there.

Dennis

This is one great flying kite. I met Ken Mcneill of Blue Moon Kites a few years back and he was at GLKF in Grand haven Mi. Oonce I seen it in the air, I had to add it to my collection!! This will be the first kite flying Sunday.

If you are going to go early plan on walking a couple hundred yards down the beach. An there may be a long walk from the parking lot depending if you get lucky to get a spot in the front lot. When you get to the beach turn right and go down past the "no swimming" sign. The crowds thin out after that.
I still haven't figured out if we can make it or not. I am going to try.

10ish? The days half gone! No matter, I plan on staying till sunset. When the wife gives me kite time I use it to the fullest. If there is little wind in the morning I am taking my 4D and the new prism zero. I can play with them for a while. Dark park, hope you can join us.

Short of rain and lightnening, I will be there. text you when I get there, or if I wont be, either way. Jeep already packed with flyables so I hope we have decent weather, 10-20 mph I am gonna load the 5 stack up too.

Well, with the morning starting out with rain and thunder, I didn't figure we would get any flying in. But shortly after the rain quit, the sun came out and I texted trigger, its a go. When I got there the beach was empty. The guard said they weren't expecting a big turnout because swimming was limited to one area and only waist deep water, so the beach was ours. Turned out to be 6 hours of flying and sun. Got to put my mitts on a rev SLE so graciously loaned to me by Jim. Thus starting a new type of flying addiction. I have flown DC3's, Lear Jets, and basically 30 other prop driven aircraft, RC Helicopters and Planes, but when I put those handles in my hand I became mildly retarded. A total brain retraining must take place! So with this I close my story of how I got the addiction, and must search the web for my new toy. When the wife asks I am totally throwing him under the bus and blaming Jim, so you might want to bring candy or sweets when you meet her at the Kite retreat, it will probably be your best bet at survival! Hope to do it again soon.
