Hi, kitemeister. Where in Schaumburg are you? Forgive me, but I don't recall if we've met (oldtimer's setting in). I'm guessing you refer to the 17th of November club fly. If so, thank you and yes I'll be happy to split expenses.

So . . . I did NOT get out this weekend (despite LOTS of wind). I had too many kid and yard work things to get done.

I think maybe Mark and Say got out to Busse today - sorry I could not join you guys. I had too much yard work. I'm betting you needed the vented kites!!!! It was really windy here by this afternoon.

I'm now looking forward to next Saturday! Hope we can get quite a few down to the beach! Let's hope for good weather, and good winds!

Yes, Say and I flew at Busse Woods on Sunday, and after about an hour the wind was geting beyond the full-vent range; extra- or super-vents would have been the way to go. Unfortunately, all my ultra-vent projects remain unfinished.

I was constantly giving to the kite so I didn't snap a rod and I was flying 4-wrap! Say flew his new full-vent on green race rods and was doing a lot of moving forward as well. It was more work than fun.

This thread wandered a bit, which happens to most threads, but to bring us back on track....

We're talking about a Club Fly this Saturday, Nov 17 at Montrose beach.
180GO! will be doing some practicing there, getting our new member up to speed, starting at 10am.
I'll work them like dogs for a bit, and then release the hounds around 1pm and 180GO! folks will be available to play too.

If for some reason we can't fly on the beach, we will fly on the grassy area (called Cricket Hill?).

The weather is looking good for this time of year: Sunny, and hitting 50ยบ by noon.

Steve, if you get a minute, can you drop a pin on a google map showing a good place to park and where you've flown at Montrose?
-thanks

Sure thing. I've only flown on the beach once (with Rich & David, last year, about this time of year).

Here's a link!

I have parked right at the beach on N. Simonds drive. This time of year there were no crowds, so there were plenty of spaces. I don't think you can park in the parking lot because they store boats there over the winter, so just drive along until you see the beach and you should be able to find a spot. On a weekend in the summer, it's impossible, but in November I think we will be OK. If we find out we have a problem, I'll post an update tomorrow morning . . . but otherwise, we'll see you there!

I'm parked here, by a bridge over walkway and there's a closed Mexican food stand on the beach side of the road.

It was great to see everybody who made it to Montrose today. I had a great time flying and hope we continue to have decent weather for a while, so we can get back together again soon.

For those who couldn't make it - you missed out. The wind picked up from the south and we had pretty decent wind & totally clear skies for a good chunk of the day. Say (zero1199) put a couple kites up pretty high with his new spool winder and had his B-pro out to play. David (illescasd) brought his son Daniel, and he put up a bunch of line laundry from one of his sleds. Plus he brought a really unique bowtie quad. We got to meet Karl for the first time, and he brought some nice dual line kites that several people got to try out. Mark flew his rev and his "avatar" kite for a good chunk of the day. Langston showed up as well (Welcome!) and flew one of my revs for a bit. Shari flew the (new to her) rok from Skyburner and got on the rev handles a bit. Plus we had a mini-mega fly of Revolutions with Mike, Rose, Mikey, Shari, me, Mark and Say. All in all, a great day of flying. We handed out several IKE cards as well, so maybe . . . some new members.

If I'm missing anyone, my apologies. I spent too much time on my (or Mikey's) rev handles today

As much as I enjoy flying anything I can throw up in the air, I enjoy it even more with others. We had a blast. Black Friday @ Busse Woods is looking real, real good.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone,
David
