Saturday looks iffy weather wise, but Sunday looks to be a very nice day...

Yes, but . . . . but it IS Mother's Day. I considered starting a thread last night . . . but figured I'd be risking life & limb. I haven't seen the right opportunity to propose "me going kite flying Sunday" to my wife yet . . . but I spend a lot of cycles trying to figure out an angle. I'd really like to get out there flying again.

Flew Wednesday and Thursday evenings - Rev SUL on 40ft lines, and it was great.

Yeah, Mothers Day is permanently unavailable for me...

Send the wife to a hotel and bring the kids? That is my idea . . . But my wife is not taking the hint.

You could do what we're doing. We are celebrating Mother's day on Saturday. It'll avoid the crowds at the restaurants.
There's a possibility I could fly for a couple hours on Sunday afternoon if it's somewhere in the city. Montrose? The Buckingham Fountain?

Now you're talking. Northerly? I am going to try the Saturday idea.

You guys are much braver than I.

Well, maybe dumber (not braver). I just asked and was shot down immediately . . . because it's Mother's day . . . darn it. Knew I needed a better angle (and I tried both the "you go stay in a hotel" and the "celebrate on Saturday" ideas). Oh well. Maybe Father's day. I did get out on Father's day last year. And next weekend . . . Grand Haven is in the plans.

I might try to fly tomorrow afternoon between 3:30 - 4:30 while my daughter is taking a lesson in Wayne. But I have to get the lawn mowed . . . so that may be out.

Daughter is sick, no lessons today so no flying today . . . . however, the wife just seemed like her "no kite flying on Mother's Day" edict may be open to negotiation . . . it could be the flowers I brought home softened her up a bit. I'll update if my status changes . .

I should be available most of the day Sunday. Lakefront would be good.

So . . . what time and where? I still don't have clearance from the tower, but if people are going to meet up downtown / lakefront . . . I'd like to have an idea what time works for others. I know in the morning my job is to get breakfast and allow for sleep (i.e. block children from waking up the wife). If I can get away for a couple hours (which turns into four with driving), I'll need to know where/when . . .

I'm open, but just to throw something out there, Northerly Island around noon?

I can't be there that "early" due to my honey-do list. I might be able to pull off something like 2 pm or maybe 2:30 pm (but I won't know until maybe 1 or 1:30). I will post again if I can make it. Kites are in the car just in case . . . .

Just wrapped up enough honey-do stuff for now - going to meet at the soccer fields in Oak Brook at about 3:30 and fly for an hour or a bit more.

Hello everyone,

I got a few hours in this afternoon at the good ol'e air field. Ordinarily, I wouldn't post this, but I got my 1st axle today. I wish I had meant to pull an axle as it was purely by accident. Still, it looked pretty cool.

Cool!

FlyAway and I got in a couple hours flying Revs on the soccer fields in Oak Brook. We went there as it's more or less halfway between us, and it's a pretty wide open field . . . except for the light poles for the soccer fields. No kites were harmed in the . . . .

Beautiful day, and reasonably nice (if a little gusty) winds. Wish I could fly all day. I'm not too far in the dog house . . .
