I don't have a destination yet, but it won't be as far as Kankakee this weekend. Wife is working, and I can't leave home until 9am and have to be back by 3 pm. Of course, the best places for me are in the western suburbs, but that might not work for everyone so . . . .

I'm not thinking downtown because we are trying for Northerly on the 19th.
I was thinking about Ned Brown/Busse Woods if makatakam can join.
Or, there are a couple places down near Joliet if Mikey and Shari (and/or the Stevensons or anyone else "southerly") can drive up. I was looking at satellite pictures for possibilities for somewhere between Kankakee and the western 'burbs. Here are some ideas:
Bluff Park - looks small - with some trees but is easy off / easy on I-55
Lincoln Way West High School - looks like it's in the middle of nowhere, no trees, etc. Biggest worry would be that the fields are in use or that we'd get kicked out by security or the cops on the weekend. Or maybe there will be football game(s) and we won't be able to get a spot. But the larger baseball fields might work if the football/soccer fields are occupied.
Centennial Park Looks like some trees but maybe OK on the soccer field if winds are from the west.
Orchard Hill Park Closer to home for me, but I have no idea if it's any good. Looks OK on Google Streetview.

Let me know what you're thinking.

Right now, the weather forecast I use is showing winds 10-14 mph from the southwest with almost no chance of rain and little cloud cover. It might be a bit chilly though . . . temp at 50F at 11am, rising to 55F by 2 pm.

It would be good to get to meet.

I can make it to Busse, but not much farther than that.

I can make it to Busse . . . anyone else up for Busse Woods? It's a great spot, especially when the wind is out of the south. Big, wide open field with nothing but grassland to the south for a couple miles. It's also really accessible as it's right where I-90 and I-290/53 come together.

I'm thinking late morning-ish (which for me probably means 11-ish) through maybe 2 pm. I'll probably have my son David in tow.

As of right now, David and I will head to Busse Woods for some flying on Saturday. We'll get there mid to late morning (probably late morning) and fly until 2 or so as I'll have to be back to pick up my daughter by 3pm. I'll edit this post if the plans change.

We'll be here.

Awesome day again! For November, anyway. Got there just before 11, and flew until about 2 pm. Had a great day with Makatakam, illescasd, and Alan Sparling as well. I'll see if I can post up some photos later.

Hi, it was nice to fly with you and to get in a quick first flight of the mid sized Shark. I can not believe that I walked off without my phone or a camera. Now it appears that the address of Alan@Gombergkites.com is not forwarding mail to me.
Bummer!

Alan - I haven't emailed any pix yet as I had to take my daughter to a lesson. PM me if you want me to send stuff to a different email address.

Here are a couple pictures from today - first is illescasd's sled kite with some laundry, second is makatakam and illescasd. We might have a new convert to the dark side . . . .

Alan - sorry, I don't have any still pictures of your shark (just a giant video file). Maybe illescasd will post his still picture (note to illescasd - you'll probably have to resize it to like 30% to get it to upload).
