Club Fly Nov 19th or 20th?

So I'm hoping for one last club fly before the snows come. Anybody want to try for a club fly the weekend of the 19th/20th? Right now, I have no plans to travel out of town then, and no cub scouting due to the school holiday week. So, that means I can probably join a club fly (weather permitting) the weekend of the 19th/20th. We also could maybe spend some time sewing that weekend . . . if people are still interested in the megamon (or other) project(s).

I'm not yet sure if I'll be available, but if I am, I'll be in Chicago on that weekend.
Meeting at Northerly Island would be good.
Maybe we can encourage some of the WI people to drive on down to fly too.

We can finalize that week when we see how the weather is doing.

Well . . . I was almost going to say "Champaign" but now that you've said you'll be in Chicago . . . . Northerly Island is good for me. Maybe Jynx can bring her whole Wisconsin crew for the day (but they might outnumber us now!).

I fear that getting the fellow (Vets) fliers together, this time of the year, would be difficult. We normally meet on a non-scheduled basis (who shows...flies) and it's pretty late in the season to imagine I will see many of them until next year (including myself showing-up less).

Besides that, I only have contact information for a few of them and a likely cold mid-November fly doesn't especially appeal to me unless it's 45+ degrees (it's hell getting old and my joints don't seem to cooperate as they did in the past) :-| I've determined, after tracking temps, that below the 45 degree mark is when I pay for it the following week...NOT in a good way! :nurse:

Next season I am going to better coordinate the scattered group so we can plan some scheduled get togethers. That was my plan this summer BUT it never seemed to materialize.

I mentioned the IKE Retreat for 2012 to several of them and I'm confident we'll have a good number of them attending next year  ...as well as some :clubfly:(s)!

Northerly Island is good for me on the 19th or the 20th (19th is marginally better). :D

Back when I started this thread, I was hoping for one more club fly. If the weather holds out for us, next weekend will be three weekends of flying in a row. I'm still up for Northerly on the 19th (or maybe 20th). I'll keep an eye on the weather this week and we'll make the final call as we get closer to the weekend.

I'm still up for Northerly Island too.
Today the forecast looks gusty and rainy for Saturday. Cooler but no rain on Sunday.

The Saturday forecast is holding out at crazy windy, so maybe Sunday will be better.

I might be able to do a day this weekend.

Just checked the forecast - still some crazy wind on Saturday, now with only a chance of rain. Lighter wind on Sunday (maybe 8mph) but less chance of showers. I'm leaning towards Sunday (but with an option to go fly locally on Saturday for a couple hours if I can sneak out  ). My wife just said she has list of chores for me . . . . so I probably can only make one day a full day.

I'll keep an eye on the forecast and post again on Friday night. If nothing changes, I'd pick Sunday at Northerly and I'd probably get there by 10:30 or so (to let it warm up a bit).

So is anyone planning to go out this weekend? I couldn't do this week AND next.

Weather isn't looking great. My motivation is slipping.

Weather isn't looking fantastic, but hey, it's November. There's wind and some sunshine in the forecast for Sunday. It is now showing only a chance of showers Saturday, but looking very windy. I'd rather be flying kites than doing yard work . . . which I am going to have to get done at some point.

I am still planning to fly at Northerly on Sunday (and maybe sneak out on Saturday for a bit locally), and as far as I know Rose and Mike are planning to join me. Catspaw (wendy), illescasd (David) and makatakam (Mark) said they might join us as well. I haven't heard from Mikey/Shari or the Stevensons so maybe I will send a PM when I get home. Last time I talked to Mikey, he said he might come if the weather was OK.

If anybody else is lurking, please feel free to post. Everybody is welcome! C'mon it won't be THAT cold - it's not January yet!

So it's Sunday?

Yep, that's the plan. I'll plan to get there by about 10:30am, and stay a good chunk of the day as long as the wind is good. Now, most of you know that I might arrive on "steve time" which may vary . . . .

As I said, I may try to get out and fly a bit tomorrow, but I won't get out until I cross a bunch of things off the "honey-do" list. Yard work is on that list . . . . we have five big 50 year old maple trees, so that may mean all day raking & bagging leaves. Anybody want to rake leaves?

we are still a maybe, leaning towards yes. Be good to get out before the snow hits. Winter is always to long.

The wind gods have changed their minds & blessed me at the last second. I will make it on Sunday around 1 00. I'll grab an hour of some flying tomorrow between domestic activities scheduled for me on Saturday.

Great! Where and when are you going to fly on Saturday? I'm going to try to grab an hour or two myself. (wish I had an extra vented!)

If I'm lucky, & I can sneak out between the list of things on the "to do" list,,,

I'll go to "Red Hawk" park. It's near County Farm & St Charles Rd.
